    Endzones

I know this has probably been discussed before, but I am way too lazy to try and find it. Our endzones would look much better if they were painted cardinal with gold lettering or gold with cardinal lettering IMO. I am not a big fan of the green grass look in the endzones. Thoughts?

    Re: Endzones

I believe it has been discussed on CF before that it is most cost effective to remain mostly green. Since we play on a real grass field, we would have to re-paint every few weeks and the quantity of necessary paint would go up significantly to color in the whole end-zone.

    It would look sweet though.

    Re: Endzones

I'm no turf specialist, but I imagine it has got to be easier to keep the natural turf looking nice and healthy later in the season the less paint there is and the more unpainted grass there is.

    Re: Endzones

I think that you should be proud of the fact that Iowa State still maintains a green grass field and not a turf field that has little black particles flying through the air every time someone dives.

I have no problem at all showing off the actual grass and not painting over it.

    Re: Endzones

They already spend 50 hours painting and lining the field. I'm sure they don't need to spend another 50 filling in the endzone. Not to mention how many thousands of gallons of paint that'd take.

    Re: Endzones

I think the field looks great the way they currently do it. It's a very clean and simple look.

I don't think it would add anything to paint the entire endzone.

    Re: Endzones

If you've been on the field and have walked across the painted section of the 50 yard line logo later in the Season you would likely not feel the same way. Paint kills the grass especially on those logo type areas. It looks great from the stands, but that would be a large amount of field maintenance time, paint, and grass rehab every season to try to coax the end zones back to life. Don't disagree it'd look cool, but it just isn't practical, IMO.

We got rid of the blue colors when McCarney era was over. Why bring that back? Blue spots on the field are just disgusting...

    Re: Endzones

I'm good with the field the way it is, but I'd like to see the Big XII logos on the field somewhere.
