What I am the most curious about is the student section overfilling again. There were literally hundreds of kids at the last game that got turned away in the upper deck. It was a complete mess, an awesome complete mess.

The atmosphere for the K-State game is going to something special. Take the first quarter vs Texas last year x 10. We will break 57,000 for that one and the Jack will explode.

Does it bother anyone else how some people talk about cheating the Iowa State Athletic Department?

You don't think the Athletic Department understands this happens? I go up and sit in the student section (or used to). The AD comes out further ahead at the moment letting people stock up on hillside tickets even if they do move over to the other section. Hillside tickets are essentially a 99 dollar donation to the athletic department with a perk being you get general admission to the football games. Part of Iowa States momentum at the moment is due in large part to their affordability.

What is an educated guess of the number of people outside the stadium who just come for the "tailgate atmosphere" and never plan on going into the game? Obviously the Iowa game every other year would be the epitome of this crowd but what about an ordinary game with good weather? A couple thousand?

No. They know people are doing it. Been going on for 30 years. Most of those 30 years they just wanted people at the games. Fortunately those days are hopefully behind us.l

I'd say that it's shrinking, whatever the # is. Definitely happening, but there's more and more demand to get inside the stadium.

It's already a tough ticket with CPR in charge. Just going to get tougher and tougher.

Maybe a triple-decker end zone is needed.

It is true. There are so few permenant seats. I have friends coming from Oklahoma for the OU game. They are used to cheap tickets in Ames, and they called me and said there wasn't much left and they couldnt belive the prices stub hub was asking. And I told them...times are a changing, better be ready to play, coming to Ames isn't like it was at one time.

I was actually looking this up earlier and I saw it mentioned that "up to 40% of the attendance", but I'm sure that number is either shrinking now that more people are attending games or based off big games (Iowa, Nebraska, etc.)

Before I became "rich", I would buy hillside tickets and go sit in O - P right on the 50. Those were the days :)

Now I pay $3k to sit on the 50.

Not complaining by the way.

Seriously, though, may they grow up to donate if/when their circumstances change. ISU needs committed donors, not tavernhawkettes.

I expect after this season is over that those Iowa and Nebraska figures get moved down the list away from the top.

Whats a little shocking is the 5 late 80's/early 90's attendance records vs Hawks/Huskers. Those had to have been practically home games for them.

Just thinking here, I have a friend who lived off cheap tickets outside the stadium for every game she attended. Ive been explaining to here for the last couple years she will probably need to pony up on season tickets. The days of finding decent $10-$15 tickets outside the stadium are over.

If you paid 10-15 you were overpaying back in the day. Have seen, bought and sold tickets for $5. I just sold my B-6 parking pass for the Western Illinois game for $100. Yes....one game...I was floored that someone would pay that much but had a ton of offers at that price.

What are the odds of hillsides selling out for Tech before game day? I have 5 former roommates coming for our annual reunion to this game and wasn't sure if they'd still be available. I might just get them just in case this week but we were considering holding out and trying to scalp actual seats.

Also when I log in to the ticket site it doesn't give me the option of individual games but only season tickets. Am I missing something there?
