Ok... I'll be the first one to say it.... ISU plays 5 teams this year that are all ranked higher than the highest ranked team Iowa will face this year.
The AP poll and the coaches poll are both 100% jokes every year when there are dozens of better polls available. Year after year after year after year Big Ten teams are 5-20 spots higher in these voter polls than they are in dozens of computer models. Time to make the BCS computer average the main poll people care about, especially outside of the top 5 teams where it's just a popularity contest for non-computer polls.
As far as I'm concerned Iowa State is already ranked 24th as of last week. I don't respect any poll that thinks 5 or 6 Big Ten teams should have been ranked at any point this season. They lose more non-conf games in a single week than the Big 12 loses in entire seasons including bowls.

Thank you for mentioning it! THis is going to sound blasphemous, but I'm glad we're not ranked right now. No need for the pressure. We deserve respect, especially if we beat any of the 5 Big 12 teams who are in the top 17! It will be inevitable that we'll be ranked at that point.
What a stupid poll. No reason USC should be 3rd, Michigan State should be a lot lower than 10th, and Wisconsin and Arkansas should not be ranked. I don't think the AP poll will look anything like this one.
