Will be there....
Will be there....
I'll be there, I live on the north side of Dallas.
Is it just me, or is it really refreshing to have fans excited to be in the Big XII?
Anyone find any good airfare from DSM to DFW?
We managed to score a parking spot a block from the stadium, but will have to check this out. Sounds like a blast.
Hey, TCU fan here. I have been lurking on a few Big XII school forums over the summer and the beginning of the season. I have not heard of this bar, but from the sounds pretty cool. Anyway, judging by the location it is definitely walking distance from campus (pretty much touches campus). I have to agree with people that Fort Worth is a pretty fun town. A lot to do.
Eat and drink in the following areas: Sundance Square, Stockyards, 7th street, TCU area.
Best burger places: Fred's (7th street), Dutch's (across from campus)
Best Tex-Mex places: the original, mi cocina, Joe T Garcia's
Joe T Garcia's - Might not be the best food, but has the best margaritas and best atmosphere in town. Huge outdoor seating area with strong and delicious drinks. You will not be disappointed in the atmosphere. Only accept cash.
Best places to watch football: Buffalo Bros (across from campus), Frankies (downtown)
If you want any more suggestions let me know.
If you have any questions about parking (locations and pricing), tailgating, or anything, I am willing to help.
Great tips, we'll start at the XII and move around. Come in and see us! Here is the Whiskey Menu

Is there going to be an ISU tailgate (outdoor drinking/grilling) near the stadium, like we saw in Austin in 2010?
The Alumni club down here in DFW is planning a Friday night happy hour and a tailgating area on Saturday for Cyclone fans. The final details are getting worked out and should be announced here in the next day or two.
Well you can always go check out the stockyards during the day - go check out billy bobs and eat some BBQ. New place opened called Cooper's that I think might be the best BBQ in DFW.
One thing that some out of towners might enjoy is driving out to Arlington (20 minutes from downtown Fort Worth) and getting a tour of Cowboys stadium. It is actually pretty cool and get all sorts of facts about what makes this stadium the best in the country.
If you are willing to drive to Dallas during the day (about 40 minutes from downtown fort worth) you can go to the Kennedy 6th Floor Museum. There are also a ton of museums in fort worth's cultural district.
Also in Dallas, but might be really cool to go to is the State Fair of Texas. It runs from 9/28 -10/21. It is in the Fair Park area of Dallas. It is also about 40 minutes from downtown fort worth, but this is unlike any state fair you have ever been to. Amazing car show, awesome fried everything. It is pretty neat. You can check out the historic Cotton Bowl stadium. TCU-ISU is the week before the red river shootout.
If you are more just looking for a place to hang out and drink - the 7th street area is pretty cool. Lots of places with huge patios to hang out and drink. Capital Bar, Chimy's, Fred's, and a few others. It is also intermingled with a bunch of shops. There is a LuckyStrike Bowling Alley with a rooftop bar as well. It is pretty much a really nice bowling alley with an awesome bar. Very cool.
You could also check out downtown Forth Worth. There is a flying saucer with a huge patio downtown. This place has like 150 different beers. There is a place called Pete's Piano Bar that is open in the late afternoon through 2 AM. Not a typiical piano bar. Play rock, pop, country, etc. The whole crowd will sing along. Fun stuff.
