Yeah, but I have friends and family who are at UNI and/or are Panther fans. The week beforehand is fun. The game is interesting regardless of the outcome.

We have 5 home/5 away locked in with the Big 12 schedule plus Iowa, every season. An FCS game is an automatic home game. We should be paying a mid-major to come to JTS every season for the 7th home game... not scheduling home-and-homes.
I agree with this. I would think that the money a mid-major would make having ISU play at their place < what ISU would pay to have them come to Ames < what ISU would make having a 7th game.
Re: Scheduling agreement with Northern Iowa
The payout is about $500,000 by Iowa or Iowa State to UNI. Here is a link about Iowa payout this year.

Re: Scheduling agreement with Northern Iowa
I'm not very fond of playing Iowa, north and purple, when we already play the other Iowa. Hate paying them money and see little upside for us. We only get three non-cons and if two of them are from the state of Iowa, does little to give us more national exposure. Wish we would play more teams along the lines of UConn last year.

Re: Scheduling agreement with Northern Iowa
I enjoy having UNI on the schedule. I know we are doing well selling a lot of tickets to our current stadium, but when we add the SEZ, this will again be our topper in attendance. Not sure on official numbers but I think UNI is one of the top attended games we have in our history books.

We got some sweet national pub this past weekend. :jimlad:

Agree 100%. However, the one good thing I see about playing UNI is that we are helping them become more self-sufficient by doing such, and that keeps us on the good side of the Regents. I'm reaching there, I know!
Re: Scheduling agreement with Northern Iowa
Honestly, I'd rather not play a FCS team. Why not play a team from the WAC for our 12th game (assuming it's not collapsing, which it probably is)? Wouldn't that be cheaper? Probably an easy win as well.

There are actual UNI fans? I thought they were all hok fans dressed in purple.
Re: Scheduling agreement with Northern Iowa
Interesting mix of comments - I lean toward the good for the state, we're a Big 12 team we shouldn't sweat this game. There may be years we're glad we get the UNI gate as opposed to W. Ill.

I realize that was slightly tongue in cheek, but honestly that is the only real reason I could see JP agreeing to this long term. Maybe there is something to it.

I hope so, because we just agreed to subsidize UNI's AD by ~$3.5 million dollars!
