Lose/Lose Situation for both teams?
As far as a national perception goes I don't think there is much to gain in this game for either team while there is everything to lose
For Iowa State:
-If ya'll win, Ubbs and the rest will say all you did was beat a 5-7 Tech team at home that has played no one to date
-Lose and see reasons above for why this is bad
For Tech:
-Win and we will get the well lets see if you can do it next week against OU and WVU the week after that
-Lose and the sky will be crashing and suddenly everyone will be calling for Tubs head
Personally I don't think there is any shame if we lose. Iowa State is a good team that plays tough at home but I just don't see either team getting a lot of credit after a win on Saturday.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? the winner likely makes it into the top 25. I'd call that a win.

Thoughts? Don't minimize a TT loss, just accept it and be done with it. You can always ring the bell later on when no one is looking.

Re: Lose/Lose Situation for both teams?
A win gets both teams an important win towards going bowling. Huge for both teams in that regard. Who cares if we gain no national recognition for this win, our fans want a bowl game every year and this is a big step towards 6 wins.

Re: Lose/Lose Situation for both teams?
Winning may not earn the winning team much credibility, but a win is never a bad thing.

Re: Lose/Lose Situation for both teams?
Each win is a game towards bowl eligibility. Nothing bad there

Holy Iowa fan post. I'm not even sure why they make us play games before the NCG, we don't gain anything from them!!

Thoughts? I see what you're saying. Perception-wise, you are absolutely right. No matter what the outcome, the winning team only won because the other team is bad (other people's opinions).
Now, it's definitely not lose-lose in the grand scheme of things. Like many others have already mentioned, a win goes a loooong ways towards bowl eligibility for both of us.

Re: Lose/Lose Situation for both teams?
1 more win is a win closer to a bowl. That should be the end goal every year and improving the bowl you go to every year is the next goal.

Re: Lose/Lose Situation for both teams?
Yes AndyBernard, that is what I am getting at. Of course one more win is closer to a bowl that goes without saying but perception is reality in college football. I truly believe that Tech is going to struggle on Saturday hopefully when the first bad thing happens we can pick ourself off the mat.
You guys aren't also battling a contingent of fans that wants to fire your football coach. The average idiot tech fan who is currently bragging on here about how bad we will beat yall will by Sunday be ready to fire Tubs for losing in a pk em game.

Thoughts? I don't really care if we get credit or not. I just like to see ISU win.

Agree, pick em games between two teams trying to rise from the ashes mean very little to those outside the fan base. If you lose, you suck, if you win, no big deal the other team sucked. Rough in a league as deep and skilled as the big 12 is this season.

This is not a lose/lose at all. The winning team, whoever it is, will be 4-0 coming off of a losing season. There is a lot for both teams to gain by pulling out the victory on Saturday.
