Can you listen to ISU games with the iHeartRadio app?

Has anybody tried this and found any stations that work? I'm going to be driving down to Tucson for the U of A game tomorrow and would like to be able to listen to the ISU game if at all possible.

100.3 and 1460 in DSM as well as 100.3 in Ames are available in the app. Now it's just a matter if the game is broadcast or blacked out.

I dont believe so, 105.1 in Ames plays normal music on their I heart radio instead on game days, probably a licensing thing

No, I've tried several station in the past and none work. Best option is local radio or buying the ISU app and hoping you have a good connection. I was unimpressed with the ISU app for Western Illinois, but I was also in the middle of nowhere.

No, it has to do with rights and licensing.

cyclones.tv subscription is your best bet. It's worth it.

The audio only works as long as your phone doesn't go into auto lock which isn't exactly a battery efficient solution and even if that were fixed my experience in the past is that the audio drops out fairly frequently anyway. I'd be more than willing to shell out money to the AD if they had a usable product. Unfortunately it looks like Game Tracker wil be my friend tomorrow.

Re: Can you listen to ISU games with the iHeartRadio app?

A few years back when UNI was in the NCAA tourney, i was at buddies house who didn't have whichever channel the game was on. So I called my girlfriend at home and told here to turn the game on and put her cell phone near the TV. Then we put my phone on speaker.

    Hope that helps!

Try the Justin.tv app. I live in AZ and it usually works for audio and sometimes for video as well.

You don't have a phone charger for your car?

I have one. Now whether I feel like sitting in my car and listening to the ISU game once I get to Tucson or maybe enjoying some pre-game atmosphere with my family is a different matter.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys.

If your phone is Android you don't have to pay for the premium Cyclones app. You can just do a one month subscription to Cyclones.TV and listen through your browser. Doing it via the app is easier, but not required. If you have an iPhone I think you have to get the app.

I bought a college basketball app which has radio broadcasts for all the division one teams. It works for football too. It picks up the Carroll station and a couple others.

The app has worked fine for me. No auto lock, and no radio drop out.

Re: Can you listen to ISU games with the iHeartRadio app?

This whole streaming/blackout thing for games on the radio is kind of baffling for me. I mean, you still get the commercials and all ... it's just the same as if you were listening to the radio ... why are broadcast licensers blacking out the coverage online? I'm sure there's some reason, it just doesn't make sense to me.

That said, with a little persistence, you can sometimes find a station that either forgets to shut off their stream of a game, or doesn't know they are supposed to. I have found Iowa State games online in the past, using the TuneIn app (I listened to the end of the UConn game last year on KWMT, I think - I wasn't able to hear it on our local Cyclone station because it was a Friday night and they had high school games on). Last Saturday I found a couple of Learfield Sports-licensed games being streamed by radio stations that probably weren't supposed to be doing it.

You have to dig, though. Find a list of stations on the Cyclone Radio Network (or whichever team you want to listen to), then start plugging them into your app. Usually the smaller stations in smaller towns are better bets. It's a pain, because you have to wait until the pregame or the game is starting, otherwise you won't know if they're actually going to stream it or not.

    Good luck!
