Ball hoggin Jantz
To me it seems Steele is ball hogging. He doesn't get the ball to our playmakers or anyone else on the team. Granted the offensive line was poor, but come on throw the ball quicker. He relies too much on mediocre scrambling hence King of Turnovers. Get the ball to our skill players like Jarvis West or our running backs and give them a chance Jantz to contribute.

Re: Ball hoggin Jantz
yep!! i have been saying that all year long. give white and shontrelle the damn ball already instead of pulling it out and keeping it just so you can gain a yard or 2. whats the point of having good RBs? fun fact: jantz has 53 carries this year for 78 yards. 1.5 avg!!. shontrelle has 42 carries at a 5.0 average, and james has 37 carries for a 5.7 average. does this make sense to anyone why jantz leads the team in carries? white and shontrelle are just under 20 carries per game combined. we are supposed to be a running team, yet our RBs never get the ball

Re: Ball hoggin Jantz
I've never heard a football player blamed for being a ball hog. This is a first.
I love post-loss foolishness.

I was watching a different game, and in the game I saw there were NO open receivers running around asking for the ball. And the lofty RB averages for THIS game were in the 2s...

I love post-loss foolishness. Maybe you should watcj sj run the zone read. He's pulling oit out of the running backs belly WAY too much.

How often do our running backs get killed in the backfield on the zone read? It's not uncommon at all. But hey, keep on doing the same things repeatedly and expecting different results. That's not insane at all...

Uh the running backs averaged over 5 yards per carry this game! Jantz is a terrible quarterback.

Re: Ball hoggin Jantz
You guys realize that he isn't just "deciding" what to do when they run that play right? On each zone read, the QB keys on the reaction of certain defenders on the field. The particular player he keys on depends on the blocking scheme for that particular play. Anyway, he reads (this is why the play is called the zone READ) the actions of the key defender, and depending on their reaction he either keeps or lets the RB have the ball. Now it's completely feasible that he isn't doing a good job making these reads. It's also possible that the opponents defensive game plan is to key on the RB, with the thought being they can recover and chase Jantz down more successfully than they could recover and chase down White or Johnson. But it's not just Jantz making a choice on whether or not he's going to hand the ball off.

Re: Ball hoggin Jantz
Jantz keeps the ******* ball way to much and when you see who is gaining yards for our offense GET THEM THE ******* BALL JANTZ STOP PULLING IT OUT!!!!!!!!!! Also I feel our offense only knows five ******* plays as well, Messingham was bad hire. Never liked him being the coordinator and did not like Jantz being the starter.

Re: Ball hoggin Jantz
He has lost a step too. He isn't as fast as last year when he commits to run, he runs really tentatively. I agree that our RB's should be running the ball, but it comes down to the sideline, they are the ones that keep calling for the zone read play. I remember this play calling from the DanMac years, 2-3 yards up the middle all night long with the same results.
I WOULD RATHER DIE IN AMES THAN LIVE IN LUBBOCK. -
Re: Ball hoggin Jantz
One more game and if nothing changes new qb and new coordinator. Sorry, guy gets paid way to much money only to score 6 ******* points at home!!!!!!!! The play calling was probably the worst I have ever seen.
