Better get reps next week. That was the worst game from a QB that I have seen at ISU since the mid 90's. I'm not taking just the turnovers, his choices in the zone read are maddening. He literally almost always makes the exact opposite choice that he should. JB never should have been pulled against Rutgers last year, and deserved to be the starter this year. I feel almost like CPR' s pride might be leading him to make a poor choice.

What did JB do to deserve to be the starter?

I am usually against having a QB that can only run one play effectively. Then tonight happened.

He's not as good as Barnett in the zone read... I'll give you that... It doesn't help Barnett's case when Steele is better at everything else

Barnett is probably worth a shot if he's better at simply moving the chains, but if our WRs aren't good enough to keep a spy and a couple of safeties off of Barnett, it's not gonna matter that much.

And Barnett is a fumbling machine who can't throw as well as Jantz when he has time. It is what it is at this point.

It could be one of those things where we thought we had a 20% chance to be a 9 win team with Steele, and a 70% chance to be a 6 win team with Barnett. Sometimes you take a risk and it sucks for you.

JB, the zone-read, and the whole offense really struggled at the end of last year once teams realized how one-dimensional we are.
Just as Steele and the entire offense just took a huge step back, there is nothing to suggest JB would not have as well. We lost two road-graders on the Oline and have a new OC trying to run someone else's bad scheme.

I agree with this. If you thought defenses keyed on the run when Jantz was QB, what do you think they're going to do when we have a QB that can only run the ball, assuming he can hold onto it?

If you're going to play a new QB, make it Richardson or Rohach - not that I think it will do much good because with as bad as our OL, WRs, and play calls are it may not make much of a difference who is back there.
