    A Product of the System

I've read all the QB, OC, whiny, etc. threads since the loss on Saturday. I think there is not one person to blame. It was a sloppy game by our offense in general. O-line didn't block, receivers didn't get open, and Jantz played poorly. I am a firm believer though that this system does not work well for Jantz, or Barnett. The zone read takes forever to develop most of the time and our offense just is not clicking.

Look at Matt Flynn or Matt Cassel. They came into a great system and lit it up. Cassel has since struggled and made the Chiefs offense look as anemic as the Cyclones did on Saturday. I think both of our QB's are more than adequate in a better system. Any decent QB could step behind the Patriots O-line, with the Patriots receivers and perform very well. On the contrary, I think an extremely talented QB would step into our system and struggle mightily.

All that being said, I'm really not sure what the fix for this is.

So I don't get it, your whining is better because you started your own thread about it?

Re: A Product of the System

We played a very poor game. We will hopefully not play a game offensively this poorly again this season. I'm not whining (besides about the zone read), I think Jantz and Barnett are very adequate QB's at times. I just don't think everything is clicking together at all offensively this season. The players have struggle to execute and the coaches have definitely not given them the best opportunity to succeed in this system.

Yeah, you're right, the offense's performance so far this season has nothing to do with the upcoming game. My bad.

it must be the curse of the iowa state offense. We have never had a good offense ever in the history of our program

This is not true, used to have a good offense and horrible defense back in the 90's.
