You do the Xavier PBP for one of the local radio stations? KMRY Radio in Cedar Rapids (1450 AM, 93.1 FM, or kmryradio.com). They've broadcast every Xavier football game since the school opened in 1998. This is my third season, been doing it since my son graduated from Xavier.
This Friday should be fun - 7-0 Xavier against 7-0 Cedar Falls. I'm already getting pumped. I'm hoping this can finally be the year Xavier beats Cedar Falls (they've never beaten them nor won a game in the Dome except for 2006, when they won the state championship).

Re: Iowa High School Football Updates?
My high school alma mater is now 7-0 this season, outscoring its opponents 271-39 this season. 19 of the 39 points they've given up this season came in one game. One point earlier this season, they won three games in a row by a combined score of 125-0.

Actually it is harder for us to get everyone in with the running clock rule because once you get to that point, the game gets over so quickly that it is tough to get many kids more than a couple reps. 35 pts is not that many to be ahead by to call off the dogs a whole lot. Had a game early on in the rule that we got up by 35 midway through the 3rd. Started getting other guys in. They scored. our reserve O went 3 and out. They scored at end of 3rd q and got onside kick. Put our starters back in and they scored. 35-21 was the final. There were some tense moments. Don't like it. We've had several over the years and you feel bad keeping your starters in when the clock is running, but by the same token, in today's run and shoot offenses, 35 points is not that much of a difference vs a HS 2 and 3-deep.

The CR Gazette has a scoreboard page, but they are usually at least a full quarter behind, and sometimes more. I don't have much time on the air to sift through Twitter, even using the #iahsfb tag. Talk to the other radio guys around the league and have them tag everything #MVCFB or something and you will be fine. I believe the Iowasportsconnection.com does a very good job of keeping things up to date.

Outside of DNH and A-P, 1A D3 is extremely weak. At the same time, if looking at the results of district games, both DNH and A-P are taking care of business of the weak district, with convincing wins each and every week.
October 19 is setting up to be a good one.
