don't ever do a thread like this about injuries again.

Isn't it kind of an unwritten general messageboard rule that you shouldn't post garbage threads like this one?

Seemed like we had players fighting injuries left and right and were never the same throughout the year for example Osemele last year.. -

Truthfully, I don't really believe it had anything to do with our injuries. But, I was raised with a "Don't count the chickens before they hatch." mentality and bringing up a subject like this a couple of games into a season, just doesn't make sense. What were we, 4 games in, 5? That's like taking a bit out of a chocolate chip cookie and saying, "Gee, I only got one chip in that bite, this cookie doesn't have as much chips as other CC cookies I've had." A lot can still be packed into the remaining bites of the cookie, just like a lot of injuries are probably waiting ahead for the remaining 7 or 8 games of the season. Injuries are going to happen, so to start saying this year looks injury free, and you aren't even halfway through the season is just stupid.

Ok, I think you are saying that you don't like "jinxing" our injuries because of what it does to you personally - to your expectations. I get that. I'm wondering if some of the folks posting here are serious about their anger at the OP - that his post directly led to injuries?
IMO the situation is different when you are in the Dugout with a no-hitter going on: your comments might get back to the pitcher and increase the pressure/nervousness of the game, contributing to a failure. There's a tangible, non-supernatural, phenomenon at work in this case.
When the OP started this thread, it was an observation that was interesting. At no point did someone get hurt because they knew we didn't have many serious injuries so far and that information negatively affected their play. Also, there aren't any vindictive spirits out in the atmosphere that hurt our players because of this thread.
I imagine that 90% of the people in this thread are just having fun, but for the other 10% this isn't healthy. Superstitions often have a basis that is useful - it's a good idea to not walk under a ladder because it can be dangerous (especially for a child), but not because it's "bad luck". Some of these other superstitions are not useful at all - especially when they incite anger/hatred/violence. That very easily could have been me posting the OP. The only reason I would have avoided it is because it could upset a lot of the people viewing it. It certainly would not have been because of any mystical linkage to future injuries on the field to my beloved Cyclones.
Sorry for the long rant. I'm just tired of this stuff.
Go Cyclones

Somebody should go start a similar troll thread on Hawkeyenation, only make it:
"One thing I've noticed about this football offseason, is that there have been very few arrests compared to other years. Isn't that great. Do you think the internal programs are helping? Go Hawks".

I had to check this thread just to make sure cyguytillidie didn't also create this one.
They say that English surnames came from what you did with your life. I'm so glad my last name isn't Dickinson.
