We've been going hillside all year cause we have two kids in college and that sucks the money right away.
Just be warned, there aren't enough seats in our student section and they wander into hillside. Usually walk around in front of you right when there is a big play. You should probably stick to the hill by your section.
Also, depending on what people do ahead of you, you may need to stand to see most of the game. Is kind of tough to stand on the hill that long if you have any kind of knee ailments.
Hope you enjoy your trip except game outcome.
Any recommendations for a post game place, must have WIFI, for dining, relaxing before the trip home? Driving, won't be drinking.
City of Ames : Public Wifi
The city of Ames has some free wi-fi hotspots around town. Here's directions for connecting. This means that you might be able to get wi-fi at some of the good local places on Main Street, like Old Main Brewing (good atmosphere and local beer, food is OK), or Great Plains Pizza. There's also an Italian place there, Lucallan's, that used to be good, but I haven't been in quite some time. Have fun this weekend!
Rather than sit on the grass, get our your purple money and buy a good seat from the scalpers for $75.
If it were me, I'd wait and scalp tickets. Hillsides are already touch n' go as far as sightlines and if it rains, it is no fun sitting in the mud...although you might not be as crowded as it would be on a nice day.
If you don't mind potentially missing kickoff, you'll be able to wait it out and get some decent tix IMO.
I know I may have one or two hillsides available if it does rain. ;) Not going to bring my three kids out in the rain, hubby can go this one alone. Hopefully it won't be raining, though.
One local establishment that looks to have wi fi is Dublin Bay. Very close to the stadium, which means it could be busy after the game. But it isn't a chain and we've always had good food there. Dublin Bay Pub, Restaurant Ames, Authentic Irish cuisine, Dining, Quality Food, Ames, Iowa I'm just going off what the Internet says for free wifi, two different places list it as having it.
