Correct, it was Lynn he got PI for face guarding and not turning to the ball. He had great coverage on the play. Jacques Washington got a PI later in the game too but the receiver made the catch so it was declined.

There's no penalty for face guarding in college

Well that makes the call really bad then. Lynn had fantastic coverage and there was no contact whatsoever. Just assumed they called him for face guarding...go figure.

Not only that, but the receiver grabbed Lynn's helmet and yanked him around. Horrible, horrible call.

There's no penalty for face guarding but that is why he got the PI. He had perfect coverage and there is no way they throw the flag if he turns and looks for the ball.

Re: People that are redshirting this year

I just watched that PI again on cyclones.tv. It's TCU's 3rd possession of the game and leads to their first TD. Just a terrible call on Lynn if there's no such thing as face guarding in the college game. That should have been a punt.

Edit. The ref calls "early contact" which is total BS.

I was also surprised. In saying that I was glad to see it. Both are very athletic players that will no doubt be important down the road. Maybe later in the year when we play some of the more Big 12 high powered offenses we will see Richardson on the field at the same time of Watson and Reeves, we did some six defensive back stuff two years ago against Missouri at home and it worked well.

Re: People that are redshirting this year

faceguarding is allowed as long as they don't "bump" the WR....

    Approved Ruling 7-3-8
    I. A Team B player, defending against a legal forward pass beyond the
neutral zone, has his back to the ball and is waving his arms in the face
of an eligible player of Team A, who, in his attempt to catch the pass,
bumps into the Team B player.
RULING: Pass interference by the Team
B player, first down. He was not making a bona fide attempt to catch or
    bat the pass.
II. Wide receiver A80, 15 yards beyond the neutral zone, turns his back
toward the neutral zone. The passer throws the ball high over A80’s
hands, which are extended above his head. The ball is overthrown and
beyond the receiver (uncatchable pass) when B2 pulls A80 down by the
    facemask.
RULING: Personal foul (Rule 9-1-2-f), not pass interference.
Penalty—15 yards from the previous spot. First and 10 for Team A.
    Flagrant offenders shall be disqualified.
III. A83, a wide receiver 10 yards from the nearest interior lineman, slants
toward the middle of the field. Before the ball is thrown, B1, a back,
legally blocks him and knocks him down.
    RULING: Legal unless the
block was below the waist (Rule 9-1-6).
IV. At the snap, A88 is on the line of scrimmage 10 yards from the tackle
position and A44 is in the backfield, four yards to his inside. Just before
the Team A passer releases the ball, A88 contacts B1 five yards beyond
the neutral zone. The pass is thrown to A44, who has moved in front and
to the outside of the spot where A88 had contacted B1.
    RULING: Team
A foul, offensive pass interference. Penalty—15 yards from the previous
    spot.
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Refs were pretty bad. I remember Kirby's punt on 4th and 1 in the first with alot of momentum, and he just got run into by their rusher. Pretty darn obvious, to the point where the announcers were like"huh, he just ran right into the kicker and there was no call."

Interesting theory. Ecby (from TX) got on the field as well. At the time I thought CPR was trying to take advantage of our improved depth, however I think you might be on to something.

The officiating was horrible, and most of the bad calls went against us. I was all fired up until the 4th quarter, when they finally started calling an even game.

I didn't have a problem with this no call. Replay show he clearly was shoved by one of our players in Kirby.
