Razorback fans starting to talk about Rhoads.....
Nothing new when hot coach gets talked about for other jobs but talk radio in Little Rock has taken notice of Rhoads. They pointed out that Their AD Jeff Long and Rhoads were at Pittsburgh together. I would guess Rhoads name gets mentioned even more this year. Lets hope Jeff Long listens to the sentiment of the fans and is looking for an even bigger name. Auburn is another one that will likely be looking for a coach and has Rhoads history. What other jobs should we expect will be open? I hope he does the Snyder thing but if or when he leaves will be thankful for what he did for Iowa state and trust his accomplishments would help pollard attract another greats young coach.

KXNO has been pimping this "move" during the past several months. One of the pro hawk idiot hosts even had the gall to suggest (to a guest guru) that he "liked the rumor of PBR moving to Arkansas." So when you have the media in our state encouraging and maintaining the rumor . . .this sort of crap shouldn't surprise you. But hey, ISU is beholden to KXNO . . . I guess. Jamie is always on one of the commercial promos . . "KXNO the home of the Iowa State Cyclones!"
However, I predict if the money is big enough PBR will be gone. These days, nothing breaks loyalty like cold hard cash. Old guys like Fry, Paterno, and Snagley are dinosaurs. For the younger coaching fraternity . . it is the cash baby . . the cash.

I listen to KXNO on a daily basis and it has been brought up one time (by Jimmy B), and at no point did he say he liked the idea of CPR leaving...in fact it was the exact opposite.

In fact here is the thread, which was shockingly started by you... http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...low-again.html

I don't listen at all, but you don't sound paranoid enough. Please work on developing your persecution complex. Thanks!
Re: Razorback fans starting to talk about Rhoads.....
Charlie Strong from Louisville is probably Arkansas' first choice to replace John L.
Re: Razorback fans starting to talk about Rhoads.....
All CPR has to do is watch what is happening to the Chiz........he won a NC 2 years ago and will probably be fired this season. He will have to be coordinator again before getting another HC job.
Granted they may give you $3MM/year, but if you can't win in the SEC, you will be fired in 2-3 years. At ISU, he has a nice long contract with tempered expectations.
Re: Razorback fans starting to talk about Rhoads.....
I'd suggest that if CPR does go, he doesn't listen to any real estate spiels that John L. puts out.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I seem to remember us trying to pay Rhoads more and he declined, saying he wanted that money to be used for assistants and facilities. Does anybody else remember this?

He's not going anywhere else. End of story.

Re: Razorback fans starting to talk about Rhoads.....
I am not naive enough to think that Rhoads is a lock for life if he continues to succeed with the program here. But I don't see him leaving for this job right now. Arkansas is a dumpster fire and will probably have a really bad (for SEC standards) recruiting class coming in this year, putting whoever the next coach is at a disadvantage.
I think we keep Rhoads as long as we do three things:
-Continue to invest in the program with things like the new football facility
-Give him the money he needs to hire quality assistant coaches
-Keep his salary competitive with other offers he is getting.
If we can only offer him $2M and somebody else is offering him $4M, he'll be gone with no hard feelings from me. I think he'll give Pollard the chance to match other offers, but it is naive to think that he'd turn down a several million dollar a year raise. None of us would.

Well there are some people that do it for more than money. $4M is more money but what does that job come with? More scrutiny from the fan base and admin after every loss. CPR is probably not paid what he deserves but if he can build something here at ISU, there may come a point when he is.
I would say that on your three things to keep CPR his salary is probably third on what is important to him. I think he would rather be able to pay his coaches more or have it put into the program.
Re: Razorback fans starting to talk about Rhoads.....
I've read a lot of places that Charlie Strong is the frontrunner. He's been in the SEC for a long time, and he's at a lower profile school than ISU, in a state that isn't his home, so he's got a lot more incentive to leave.
