ISU Club of Austin's "unofficial" Cyclone-Longhorns tailgate info

Oh, since we are wrapping up the tailgate at 6p, we also have an official Iowa State bar downtown at The Rattle Inn - a fairly new bar in the WEST 6th Street district of bars. This is not the old dirty infamous East 6th St - which has gone sorta downhill in crowd and fights/muggings - West district is about 10 blocks due west:

Both Friday and Saturday nights Rattle Inn will give up $2 domestics and $3 imports to anyone sporting a Iowa State swag. And the covered roof bar has an awesome view of downtown Austin for the night only dropping into the 60's temps!

Hey, I know the ISU-UT weekend is all past thought now - but just wanted to shout a big THANKS for all of you that parked miles away to come find our ISU tailgate. We sold 662 wristbands throughout the day (and at least 500 of those were to people clad in Cardinal n' Gold swag)!

244 of those were online presales so was a larger crowd than planned and the BBQ team had to go make 3 more beer runs throughout the afternoon. Seems a lot of you wanted to hang around for the Sonny Wolf Band <- one of Austin's many. Not bad huh? And sorry about the big Longhorn Towing monster truck - they were a sponsor

Yes, while running the door I noticed the BBQ and beer lines get long during the surges immediately before and after the game. All I can frankly say is deal with it. We are all volunteers here trying to enjoy a bit of tailgating, too. The BBQ team - which handled all the $$$, the equipment and the setup/cleanup - tells me they did cut a profit again and the proceeds are going to the Travis County Youth Show and Manor 4-H Booster Club (since several asked me).

And yes, The Nadas were indeed spotted there partying before the game but couldn't play because our PA equipment arrived way late and they had to catch a Noon flight back to Iowa anyway. You should've seen them unplugged Friday night! Maybe next time.

Again, thanks for those that made it out. Hope you had as a good of a time as I did with fellow Cyclones coming in from around the country even tho the game didn't go well. And yes, we have definitely been welcomed back in two years so hope to see y'all back in 2014

The tailgate was excellent and the food was superb. Everyone involved did a great job. Thanks for setting this up.

Great tailgate. Only suggestions I would have is to provide plates next time, it was hard to handle potatoes and the bbq on a paper towel. Also put the beer and food in separate places so that the lines dont cut across the middle of the event. Thanks for hosting.
