This game had several points of questionable strategy, more a matter of being cumulative than anything bad in an isolated sense.

The end of the game just seemed really strange to me, I just don't understand how you don't get the ball even close to the target, seemed like something was definitely off/wrong. Nothing happend. That is just all the better Barnet is right now. He isn't equipped to play against defenses like that. He is just extremely limited in what he can do against a defense with a heartbeat. Not a knock on the guy, it's just reality right now.

Re: Final two offensive possesions
Here Is what I saw. I saw Shontrelle wide open on the outlet pass. KSU was playing prevent with 4 minutes left. Get the ball to Shontrelle, make some yards, get out of bounds. Then take your chance downfield.

Re: Final two offensive possesions
The offense looked kind of rough on Saturday. There were lots of poor throws. Bummer way to end the game. The pick after getting a huge turnover was about the worst thing that could have happened.

How many plays did Jantz make when they took out Barnett for him? It was a number between -1 and 1. I will let you guess. But he did throw two picks, which is awesome right? This doesn't work, period. It is why everyone who knows the game hates the idea of platooning QBs.

And seeing the way Shontrelle had been running that game, he could have had a clear shot to the sideline, but would have stutter-stepped for a minute to allow the defense to close and tackle him. I really missed White yesterday.

Re: Final two offensive possesions
this game simply shows how inept our QB play is, in addition to our play calling. hurry up offense is just code for zone read...every first down they got, they promptly followed it up with a zone read for 1 yard....its mcarney era play calling. barnett doesn't net us much and i think texas tech defense is really just that much better than our offense. regardless, barnett isn't the answer long term...may as well put in richardson. less than 60% passing is attrocious....

This----------We are playing the best QBs we have. Too bad one isn't a lot better than the others or there wouldn't be a question.

Re: Final two offensive possesions
Barnett missed some wide open guys on the last two possessions. Play calling not great the whole game. Clearly Barnett just does not throw the ball well. Against TCU, guys were catching those throws at their ankles. On the other hand, while he does not always make the best decisions, he makes better decisions than Steele. Steele can throw a nice looking ball but he makes scary decisions. If you could combine one's head and the other's arm into one quarterback, we'd have an upgrade. Even just watching them warmup, Steele just throws a a better ball. My guess is easier to improve Barnett's throws than Steele's thought process. Those little short throws that should be easier for Barnett, he can't even get over the line.

Our receivers haven't made spectacular catches since Todd Bythe ran out of eligibility. Barnett threw alot of very good balls and some poor ones, but he didn't make nearly as many turnover producing throws as Jantz normally does, so we keep him. We need to run the football better, take some pressure off Barnett, and then see how he does. We need James White back.

Re: Final two offensive possesions
After reading all of the endless fails in this thread, I am so glad none of these Sunday-morning coaches are on the ISU staff.
They say that English surnames came from what you did with your life. I'm so glad my last name isn't Dickinson.
