Sorry Kingcy, I guess some people just can't take a compliment. By the way I was watching the worse BCS conference play today. I will apologize though. I forgot that it's illegal to be a fan of more than one team.

If what I said was a backhanded compliment I'm sorry it wasn't meant to be. I've followed ISU since the 70's and been reading this site for about four years. When I said loyal and optimistic I was serious. There were some tough years when that showed through.
I don't think ISU will lose 5 more games but I don't think they'll win 5 more either. I think two more wins, possibly 3 and if things go really well 4.
Docholihawk, I think it is really admirable that you are so willing to pleasantly post on these message boards given that your posts display so much ignorance. Now do you consider that a compliment?
My use of "backhanded compliment" was probably harsh — it didn't refer to the W-L but "amazed at the optimism."
Maybe I should have said "fronthanded criticism."
There are reasons to be optimistic about this team, although a lot of us are bitter about letting that one slip. I think ISU still has a shot at a noteworthy season (Although: Still actually has to do it to do it).
Consider it mutual. The point is, you were NOT posting a compliment.
Another vote against dochawk.
Obviously, the transitive property has its limits when it comes to sports. But there's nothing so far in Big 12 play that's disproved it, so why not look at what it says w/r/t the standings?
I'm only looking at wins and losses, not team X beat team Y by more points than team Z did. (Although if you *do* look at scores, Iowa State does fare even better.) There haven't been enough games played yet to set the teams past no. 3, so I've listed the high and low range for each of the teams (until a set of games breaks the transitive property).
1: KSU
2: Oklahoma
3: Texas Tech
4-6: WV
4-7: ISU
5-8: TCU
5-8: Texas
6-9: OSU
7-10: Baylor
9-10: Kansas
I won't detail how each team ended up where it did, but I'll do a quick one for Iowa State. Iowa State lost to KSU and Tech, and since OU beat Tech, they lose to them as well. ISU beat TCU who beat Kansas and Baylor. ISU's games v. WV, Texas, and OSU could go either way; there's not enough information yet.
I guess I wasn't clear with my post. When I said optimistic fans I was thinking about the lean years. I agree that this year everyone should be confident no matter who ISU plays. I will try to think before I post from here on.
