Re: Refs today
Yes, the targeting call made me really upset. It was pretty much standard Big XII officiating though.

Re: Refs today
And all you really needed to see to know they were bad was the reaction on the Brun TD where they initially marked him out just short of the goal line, where there was absolutely no way he could have been down or out of bounds.

Re: Refs today
The refs sucked ans cost us the game.

Not as big of a deal from the front because your waist will bend forward. Your waist doesn't bend nearly as easily going backward. The NCAA banned it about the same time the NFL did.
As far as the horsecollar in this game, I'm not disputing that call - it was certainly close enough.

Re: Refs today
Good idea of the refs we typically have

Re: Refs today
Am I the only one that saw Shontrelle get held on the 3rd down play on our second to last drive? Just as he was leaking out of the backfield, he was grabbed and slowed quite a bit. He may have been overthrown anyway, or he may have scampered for some big yardage. Regardless, it was another non-call that should have resulted in a 1st down and kept that drive alive.
I'd be interested to hear a take from someone who DVRd the game.

Re: Refs today
The targetting and the late hit were terrible. I think there was one more where KSU could've been called for targetting, but wasn't.
I never catch holds or anything, because I'm not accommodated to noticing them until the replay. So I can't say much. Honestly, other than the aforementioned two (maybe three), it seemed about right. That is, mediocre all around.

It was an obvious call and they didn't make it.

Re: Refs today
Was it my imagination or was there a play by KSU near the N End zone where the play clock was down to zero before the ball was hiked and nothing was called. How can they miss that? Also on the interception on Barnett after the KSU fumble ISU recovered, was there not a block in the back?
No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine. -
Re: Refs today
Meandean, I was jumping up and down on that one. Yeah, it hit zero.

Re: Refs today
The refs sucked today, no doubt. But ISU made plenty of mistakes that cost us the game a lot more than the refs did.

I thought the same thing and it was on zero clearly before he hiked the ball and I was looking at the play clock in the south endzone. Someone next to me, however, said they talked about it on the radio looking at replay and apparently he hiked it right ahead of it hitting zero. I am not sure if that is an unofficial clock or what but it looked that way to me.
I am also in the camp saying the refs had some screw-ups but they were on both sides and didn't cause us the loss.

Re: Refs today
It hit zero. I was in the south endzone and the back judge cleary saw it hit zero and even took a few steps as if he was going to call it dead and then just stopped. That back judge was horrible all game, he was the one who called that bogus "targeting" penalty.

Re: Refs today
Anybody watching the Baylor / TCU game? Baylor receiver dropped a pass but it hit off his foot and bounced up in the air, TCU defender caught it and ran the other way. Refs called it incomplete and TCU didn't challenge. Baylor went on to score a td to make it 21 to 14. Bad reffing all around the Big12.
