My Big 12 Ranking this Week

1. Kansas State-Klein & company toughest team by far. No glaring weaknesses.
2. Oklahoma-When they decide to show up & play they dominate. Most talented team.
3. Texas Tech-The defense is really that good. Doege is also vastly underrated.
4. West Virginia-If Geno has time they are spectacular. Pressure him & they become average. No D.
5. Iowa State-Best Defense in conference, Worst O-line in conference. Cancels one another out.
6. TCU-Boykin is raw, but talented. The sky is not falling. Pachell....good riddance thug.
7. Texas-No quarterback (Ash now out), but running game decent. Talented defense with poor tackling.
8. Oklahoma State-Without Weeden & Blackmon very average.
9. Baylor-Florence runs their scheme well, defense non existent.
10. Kansas-not much on either side of the ball to compliment.

We have neither the best defense nor the worst offense in the league. There are at least 3 defenses in the Big 12 that are better than ISU's, and we've played 3 solid defenses over the last 3 weeks, which is making our offense look worse than it probably is. Or, in case you haven't noticed, Kansas and us have played 2 common opponents this year (TCU and K-State), and we put up a lot more points on those two teams than Kansas did.

Spot on, very good analysis and agree with your input on each team. KSU has next to no things to improve on as of now. But is that a good thing? I'm sure ole Snyder will give them something to chew on this week before WVU.

I didn't say we had the worst offense. I said worst offensive line. As for our defense, I do in fact believe we have the best, however our lack of ball control on offense puts our defense on the field too much leading to the appearance that our D can be beat. If our offense improves, it will be visible to all that our D is the best.

Funny, other big 12 boards are slotting us at #4 right now. Looking objectively at the evidence we have on the season now hard to disagree. Hope it holds and its right. I think OU will be really tough but every other game is very winnable. I think we do look better than Tex and WVU right now and think they will have a tough time with our d...we can ball control those as there d line is almostst non existant...I like our odds and am strangely more confident this week than last. Tcu is legit, tech legit, ksu the best in the big 12 and we almost got them. So quit the jantz crap or the o,line bashing... The boys need to get better but we have the man power to win some games...

damn right we are still ISU. One of the best and most competitive athletic programs in the country across the board. Football team is 4-2 and went down to the wire against #5 yesterday. We ARE ISU, GO CYCLONES!

These next two games are going to tell us a lot about Iowa State this year.

0-2 and we're in trouble, needing an upset against someone just to go bowling.

1-1 and we're doing okay, likely bowl-bound but not as good as some believe.

2-0 and we don't know where the ceiling is. Based on what else we've seen, no team should expect over ISU a win except maybe OU, and that won't be a sure thing with a rocking JTS supporting a 6-2 team.

...why,having talentand executing on that talent aren't the same thing. I think that's a spot on assessment. If Texas works on fundamentals they will be dangerous otherwise justa mediocre D with a lot of speed and potential

I think you over rate OU. They have already been beaten by consistent KSU.

They also smacked around a good Tech team that won at Jack Trice. And their game with K-State was closer than ours.

They absolutely should expect to beat Iowa State. Of course that doesn't mean it will happen.

OU made too many mistakes in that game. OU is the better team, KSU was just more disciplined.
