Re: i was taken by the respect shown between teams, coaches and, i hope, fans ...
Some of the biggest die hard fans are in the band. Trust me. Then again, some of them have no idea what 1st & 10 even means. No need to be hating on um, though. Believe it or not, we used to throw great parties back in the day. Did you know you could use a trombone as a beer bong? I do. I invented it.

If a member of the band is going to whine about a big mean football player running by and yelling at them, they are kind of setting themselves up. If you're going to dish it out, take it just as easily. It's a non-issue so don't be a cry-baby.. Ok, I can get on board with this sentiment. If an opposing player had bothered to talk **** to the band back in my day, I think I would have just laughed.

Were you with us in 2004 when drunken Rutgers basketball fans actually tried to get physical with us? Talk about sore winners...

I didn't show up until 2005, so the closest I came to band on opponent confrontations was when a band staff member inadvertently tripped that irate UNLV coach after that overtime game (2006?)

Yeah, I know there are a lot of band members and ex-band members on this board, and I know they get a little sensitive with anything that doesn't reek of band love, so.... -

You probably got lubed up pretty good from drinking all that slide oil.

Why is the band talking smack to the other team or trying to distract them in Hilton when shooting freethrows? To get into their heads. If the players care enough to talk smack back - mission achieved! Take it as a compliment.
