    B. We show potential, and our defense is very solid. Should be an A, but our offense obviously isn't closing the deal.

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

Overall, a B-, a little above average. A 4-2 mark is good but not stellar.

Offense: D, below average. Difficulty moving the ball has been been the norm. Problems on multiple fronts (play-calling, quarterback decision-making, blocking, etc). Cannot run or pass with any consistency.

Defense: A-, good but not great. Created turnovers, gotten pressure. Had some difficulty getting off the field on 3rd downs. Has not given up many big plays. Have done a good job of keeping opponents out of end zone.

Special Teams: B, above average. Great job out of punt team (A). Good job on kick return (B) and punt return (B). Below average on PAT (D).

Kick and punt returns are pretty anemic.

    B. Not surprised by our record and defense, however think we took a step back on offense and in special teams. No complaints from me though, I see us at 7-5 in the regular season. Bring on the Pokes!

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

I thought this was going to be for students to post how awful their midterm grades are. I'll start. I have 1 D.

I guess I would give the team a B right now. With an above average offense I would probably give us an A, but we haven't shown anything close to even an average offense.

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

    Defense A
    Offense D-

It's a good team all around. The frustrating thing is they are SO CLOSE to being SPECIAL. Better QB play, or better O-line play (which gives better QB play and run game of course). SO CLOSE.

Still, they are solid, and 4-2 with only losses to apparently very good teams. And none of the next 6 games are unwinnable. Keep grinding, stay healthy, figure out how to run the ball and can win 4 or 5 more games. That would be a great season.

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

    B from me.

Defense is fun to watch, wish the same were true about the O. I came into this season hoping to be 5-1 at this point (only loss to TCU), but I can't say I'm overly disappointed. Purple kitties are better than I anticipated, but it hurts to be so close for sooo many years in a row!

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

this offense gets to C+/B- level and it makes the defense an easy A+ in stead of A/A-. The O has had serious problems executing. The love i have for this team gets an A+ though. I love what is going on in ames right now

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

defense definately gets an A. A- at lowest. offense gets a C and special teams gets a C+ (would be lower if not for kirby). overall i say B-

we COULD be undefeated still if the offense was playing better. oh well gotta look forward

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

This is still a team that can win 8 regular season games. I'd give them a B+ so far. Lost two close games to two of the top four teams in the conference, and we didn't let the Iowa game get away from us. We've played a tough schedule so far. Beat a ranked team on the road too.

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

Offense: D... Mostly our QBs and O-Line have underachieved at this point of the season. I honestly at this point don't think that Jantz or Barnett is the answer at this point at QB. If we had a decent QB, we could be 6-0 right now IMO.

Defense: A... The D has kept us in many of the games this season especially against Iowa and Texas Tech. Our D-Line is much improved depth wise and talent wise from last year. If only the offense could help out the defense every once in awhile.

Special Teams: B... Kirby Van Der Kamp has been outstanding punting the ball this season and should get consideration for the Ray Guy award. The kicking game with Arceo has been shaky at best, and our kick coverage has been exposed at best, but Kirby changing field position for us has been a game-changer.

Overall: B... Considering our only two losses are to #4 Kansas State and a #18 Texas Tech team that just crushed a very solid West Virginia team, I would usually be good with that. However we were in both of those games, and if our offense just mustered enough of a fight to score once or twice, we could have won both of those games.
    Favorite Teams:
Kansas City Chiefs: 2-14, 1st Pick in Draft, QB Acquired, Optimistic future
Iowa State Cyclones Basketball: 23-12(11-7) Season Over-Thank you seniors
Chicago Cubs: 4-8, Another ugly season incoming. Thank you Ricketts.

    Re: Iowa State: Midterm grade

Offense:D. The good news is that we've taken some of the tougher tests of the year, and now we get some easier ones. So there is a decent chance to improve the grade by the end of the year. Hard to rate it much higher than a D though based on current performance, even if i think they could do better against the upcoming competition.

Defense: A. Theyre doing a damn good job especially considering our offense is often making things extra challenging for them.

    Special teams: C

    Overall: C+

Lots of points to be gained in the last 6 games, more than in the first 6, so still plenty of opportunity to improve the grade.
