If Oregon State wins this week, ISU will have the second longest drought (74 years) of any BCS AQ team to start the season 6-0 only behind Vanderbilt (84)

I think this qualifies as a "manufactured stat". Lots of teams don't play in the Big 8/ Big XII, so how the heck is this relevant?

Agree to a certain extent. But this is just of the BCS AQ schools. Also, half of the 6 games are not against the big 12, so I think it is relevant. Just because you and I don't like the stat, does not make it less relevant.

Not sure how you could make it less relevant.

Interesting historical note. I am going to take that out of the giant "Obscure facts" file and put it in my file marked "Milestones accomplished by Paul Rhoads at Iowa State" with a large check box at the top for when he accomplishes this in the next few years.

I wouldn't call it "manufactured". I'd call it "who gives a flying ****".

When your first 6 games include at least one of Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma or Texas, there's a good chance you're not going to make it through unscathed. And that covers the last 40 years. Before that, just a lot of bad football.

ISU had a chance in 1980, but lost at Kansas -- who later forfeited (or vacated) their wins because of an ineligible player.

Well, thats it! Ive had it with these damn Cyclones! I could handle having the 3rd longest streak but if Oregon State wins this weekend I cant handle having the 2nd longest streak!
