I think the OP comparison between ISU and OSU is right on. I've seen both teams in person this year and the Beaver offense is by far better coached. They run plays that fit their personnel very well. The Beaver QBs both put the ball where the receivers can make a play. Plus their WRs >> 'clones WR in terms of making a play on the ball. I didn't see any drops last night in Corvallis.
Cyclone defense has the edge at LB but Beaver defense has faster & taller DBs plus a better D-line. I cannot believe how Mike Riley can bring in replacements into Corvallis, OR that are better than the ISU starters in the vaulted Big 12. If the two teams played next weekend, the Beavers would win.

Agree. Watched OSU Utah last night on TV. OSU is a solid team on both Offense and Defense. Riley is a good coach who came in and turned that whole thing around way back when, went to the NFL and then came back and has had decent success. Up until the late 1990's OSU was a joke and was probably in as deep or deeper hole than ISU in that era. However, Riley has had his ups and downs. They lost to FCS Sacramento State last year. OSU is at a huge disadvantage to their in state rival in terms of facilities, publicity etc.. In spite of that, they succeed. They give me hope that ISU can compete if we find the right formula and stick with it.
