50 Consecutive Winning Seasons
I was just listening to the QC local TV broadcast. They mentioned that the Geneseo, Illinois high school football team just completed their 50th consecutive winning season.
I'm curious whether any Iowa high schools are close to anything like that.

Re: 50 Consecutive Winning Seasons
I can assure you that Clinton High has not come anywhere close to that mark.

Re: 50 Consecutive Winning Seasons
Clinton has won the Most Odiferous Town in Iowa for longer than that.

Re: 50 Consecutive Winning Seasons
Emmetsburg is at least to 30. Since 1974 they've only missed the playoffs twice: 2007 (5-4) and 1982 (n/a). Depending on their '82 record, they could be at 39.

Re: 50 Consecutive Winning Seasons
Harlan had like a 5 year stretch of not losing a football game. I believe they had a year where they won football Boys basketball boys track and baseball state championships

"No matter how many hours you study opponent films, there's only going to be eleven players on the other side of the line of scrimmage." - Sid Gillman
It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element. -

What makes Harlan have such a great record?

I'm curious whether any Iowa high schools are close to anything like that. The Geneseo HS football program emerged under Coach Bob Reade, who later when on to Augustana College, where we won 4 NCAA Div III championships in a row in the 1980's and 87% of all games. Reade was an innovator, developing a youth football program that fed the high school with a continuous flow of well-schooled football players. The high school continues with the tradition and successes.

That sums it up. Is that Coach Bladt the Impaler?
And thanks for the map. It helps. -

The high Schoolers all coach flag football and start instilling Harlans plays at a very young age. Good coaching from 4th grade on up helps.
