Because no people in the media ever make deals with news sources in order to get special access, privileges, or exclusive interviews. The line between news and marketing is getting very blurry.

I'd consider injuries something reasonable for the coaching staff to ask the media to keep quiet on in exchange for being allowed access to practice. Which is why it gets scarier the longer nobody makes any kind of comment at all.

That is not the way ISU handles the media. Even if this were the case, which it is not, they cant grant the same access to every single media source in Central Iowa, and they wouldn't do such a thing just to hide the rumor from getting out 2 days sooner.

Then, what is your explanation of the silence? It is the most important story of the season, but not a peep in the media. It seems clear that the coaches don't want it getting attention. It almost makes me wish that we weren't even talking about it.

If the rumor of the doctor screwing up a procedure is true then that might be why it's quiet, not because of the game. Isu has ****** luck with doctors

Even the school to the East (who absolutely would hide an injury) couldn't get away with hiding injuries from the media. News orgs like WHO, KCCI, DMReg, etc are big enough that ISU can't really shut them out.
