Starting Lineups
What will the reactions be if they announce Sam Richardson as the starting quarterback on the jumbotron prior to the game?

Re: Starting Lineups
I'll cheer for whoever, but in order of preference I'd like to hear:
1. Jantz
2. Richardson
3. Barnett
The offensive performance that got Jantz pulled was better than the ones Barnett has put up since.

We just need a QB that wont turn it over and can hit the open man.

Re: Starting Lineups
I wonder if they'll even announce a quarterback. Rhoads has said that we'll know when they run out on the field. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they don't announce a QB. Or if they announce one guy and then send somebody else out there.

Re: Starting Lineups
Through 20 games we know what Jantz and Barnett can do and more times than not it isn't enough to win in the Big 12. Might as well give Richardson a shot.

Re: Starting Lineups
As much as I hate to say it, Richardson is probably the only one who won't get a smattering of boos. And no, I am not one to boo our players. I just think there are too many people who have totally camped out with Jantz or Barnett and have let it cloud their judgement. Whoever it is, people, they are going to need our support more than ever.
No, this problem is not with the majority, just enough people to make it noticable.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -
Re: Starting Lineups
What would you think if all three had a series in the first quarter?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Starting Lineups
I honestly don't understand Steele's advocates... he has loads of potential, we all understand that. But he clearly has no idea how to avoid turnovers or how to sit in a pocket and throw without getting crazy feet. It's time to start preparing Richardson for the future and to find our way into a bowl game this year. Start Richardson and don't change the lineup again as far as the quarterback position goes.

Re: Starting Lineups
Im siding with Jantz, yea he has had ball security issues, maybe not to the degree Barnett has experienced yet but he has more upside than barnett. How does our Passing game begin and sustain success this year, completeting the mid range quick hitters and screens to allow our jitterbug type WR's to make a man miss and get up field. This in turn widens the field to allow more success running and open's up the deep ball which jantz has the better arm for. Zone read scheme Im going to call "push" on with jantz and barnett, bc if we get our short intermediate pass game operating with the higher Comp %, the running game goes with it!
With Barnett's low comp % we continue to spin our wheels and never get off "go". I understand and was just as mad at Jantz as everyone else, but I dont see why he's always yanked so fast and yet we stay with barnett for so long when he struggles...

Re: Starting Lineups
Last year he threw into crowds for interceptions.
This year he escapes the pocket stage right after dline penetrating thrusts and has thrown the ball wildly.
Next year he will be in an CFL camp.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Starting Lineups
Yeah, Barnett doesn't have as many picks. But like others have said, part of that could be due to him missing the receiver by 10+ yards way too often. Or throwing it into the turf 5 yards in front of the rb.
I think JB has had better overall decision making than SJ, but I don't think that was the case @ OSU. Multiple throws that shouldn't have been made. (ie. into tight, double, or even triple coverage)
Jantz gets my vote, but I trust the coaches.

SJ has shown nothing against good competition......he looks ok in some non-conference games, but as soon as a team with real talent shows up - his head explodes and is awful.

No, this problem is not with the majority, just enough people to make it noticable. I really hope we don't boo any of our players. It's not like they aren't doing/trying their best. Is their best good enough? Maybe not, but it's up to the coaches to recruit a player and evaluate his talent to make sure they are a good fit for their system. It looks bad on the program when the fans boo.
How can we make fun of the boo birds to the east if we follow suit. I like to think we have one of the best fan bases and classiest fan bases in the country. So lets don't resort to booing.
