The daily is a crap paper with no journolism at all. No real news media was reporting because they didn't know, and couldn't find out. The correct assumption was the report was false. -

So why didn't the Daily say he would play in his last game against Baylor? Still confused how/why you would give them kudos?

I'm not 100% convinced they all knew anyway. I think they all knew that it could be and that it should be. But I'm not 100% sure it was the deal.

I'm pretty sure all John said was that he hasn't heard anything about him sitting out and that he fully expected Jake to play. I think John knew about the injury, but both statements could have easily been true.

I'm really not surprised by this; in fact it makes sense when you consider the state of the media in this country. -

Walters said that he expected Knott to play Saturday. He didn't comment on the season.

Re: Iowa State Daily: Knott Out Saturday
In Klein's interview, it sounded like he expected Knott to play again this week (or maybe he was trying to talk him into it).

I am not sure how hard it is to understand that Walters is not a reporter anymore. He is an Iowa State employee. And as such, I expect him to do what is best for Iowa State. If that means lying about Jake Knott's status, that's fine with me.
It does not take a genius to figure out that this story had a ton of moving parts.
The Daily was wrong. It's a student newspaper so I don't really care. And I AM HAPPY THEY WERE WRONG. I got to see Jake play another game.

I don't know about that. What I do think is that there had to be a lot of fast talking people to convince Jake to have the surgery. I would suspect that even if he had decided to have the surgery before the game, he probably was on enough of a high after the game to think about forgetting it.

The Daily was wrong. It's a student newspaper so I don't really care. And I AM HAPPY THEY WERE WRONG. I got to see Jake play another game. Here's the thing about John. He wasn't lying. I repeat: He was not lying. A lot of people had heard rumors about Jake all week long but nobody knew what was going on for sure. Nobody. Questions were asked. Calls were made.
But most news organizations are not going to report season-ending injuries without a quoted source. I'm not hating on the ISD. They can do what they want. But again as we saw last week, most will not do that unless they get a source on the record. It isn't that the rest of the media was lazy - not doing job, etc.
