Fortunately, it was nothing more than a series.
I would add to your list the play calling on the final set of downs leading up to Jantz's first pick. We had been running a lot of first down, but we went away from it and forced the issue in the RZ, which always makes me nervous. That series of events put us in an ominous situation towards the end of the first half. Fortunately, BU didn't take advantage and things worked out in our favor. I guess I don't understand your onside comment. I think it shows great respect to our d. My guess would be the d was told, we have seen something on tape that makes us think we can get an on sides. We will try to take advantage but if we don't get it we know you will back us up. That is the advantage a good defense gives coaches. More options. And you know what it worked out. Just not like they planned.

Instead, 1st down from the 22, we threw deep to the corner of the EZ incomplete. Then threw the pick deep over the middle on 2nd. It was too impatient for my liking. We weren't taking the easy stuff as we had been to that point, and it cost us.

Re: Things I don't get.......
I was ok with the onside kick. Look at the result, we got a turnover on that drive that we may not have had if we kicked it off.
I would also agree regarding #2, 3, and 4 though. #3 was a total face palm.

With your imaginary INT and incorrectly recalling when the actual INT occurred (and thus the subsequent series of events), you had no point.
The play calling before the INT was fine. Jantz make a good throw and it is a TD.

The play calling before the INT was fine. Jantz make a good throw and it is a TD. Right. All he has to do is throw over the defender for a normal throw in that situation and that's a score. It was there, just badly thrown.
I only remember 2 badly thrown passes, and I'm pleased with that.

Something I don't get, why did they have to review our two obvious catches for first downs? And they didn't review any of Baylor's close calls. Conspiracy!

Re: Things I don't get.......
The opening kickoff is a great time to pull an onside kick. The return team certainly isn't expecting it, with our defense I trust them to get a stop, and even if they don't there is so much game left that even if Baylor scored a TD we could get it back. It's really the only way you can actually steal a possession from the other team.

LOVE the onside kick to start the game. While it didn't work out, it was really close to closing possesion on our part.
Putting JB in was indeed puzzling though.

Putting JB in was indeed puzzling though. I thought it was a good call, took a gamble, but came up short. Luckily we forced the turnover before it truly burned us.
On another note, as far as Jantz's pick goes, I think he simply needed a little more air underneath the ball, our receiver had the separation for the touchdown. Not a terrible pass, but not good either.

Re: Things I don't get.......
It seems like our defense likes to let them get on our side of the field before they make a stop, the onside kick wouldn't be any different.

Re: Things I don't get.......
I think an onside kick can also show confidence in your defense, which definitely it worked out that way.
I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story. -
Re: Things I don't get.......
An onside kick most definitely shows confidence in the defense. I'm not sure how the original comment thought it was the opposite. I thought the insertion of JB was poor coaching wrt timing.

Re: Things I don't get.......
I think the trick plays were designed to relax the offense a little bit. You can especially tell with barnett..pushing way too hard and not letting the game come to them. Trying to make too much happen. When you are not playing from behind it gets much easier to relax. I think CPR was just doing whatever he could to get out to an early lead, let the offense relax a bit, and rely on the defense to do its thing.

Re: Things I don't get.......
Liked the on side kick, hadn't done it yet this year. Many had been calling for a qb rotation so not a big surprise they tried it but that's what is wrong with an in game rotation, hot hand sits. With Steele it's not if he is going to turn it over but when. He gave Baylor 3 opportunities, and they capitalized on 2. Don't get me wrong, Steele played great and could have been even better if Horne brings his hands to the game but it was a clunky performance and the cyclones were fortunate to prevail. It will take a cleaner effort vs OU and I kind of wish they would have saved the onside for that game.
