...for the team or for the fan base? After starting the conference season out 0-2 at home, I think many of the fans needed this win pretty badly.
On another note, I've seen a few comments about dropped balls by the receivers. After watching the replay, it seemed more like the throws were just a bit late which allowed the defender to make a play on the ball. I'm certainly not going to complain about Jantz's performance. Just an observation.
I agree with this, Baylor is pretty clearly #9 in the Big 12 this season and we needed to beat them at home or else the fans would have reached "Nuclear Meltdown" stage. So I'll say this win is bigger for the fans.
I think it was huge for both. I was kind of expecting the same kind of game we saw vs OSU...great O, bad D. But Baylor's D wasn't nearly as good as OSU's and their O wasn't as good either. ISU needed that win and the fans needed to see a win to keep the attendance up down the line.
Bigger for the fans, who needed it after losing 2 straight at home and 3 of the last 4 games.
But it was important for the team too.Does Baylor's D suck? Yes. But i think it was still questionable whether our O could put anything together after some of the recent performances, where we were just as likely to kill our own drives as the defense was to stop us.
Looking forward, i think you have to view the remainder of the season like this:
5 wins: utter failure. You can't start 4-1 or 5-3 and finish with 5 wins, especially when one is KU and you have two more big opportunities in UT and WVU.
6 wins: With kansas remaining on the schedule, and the UT\WVU winnable games, i think you have to still be a bit disappointed that we could only pick up one win.
7 wins: Good season\finish. This means beating KU and likely one win vs UT or WVU. Very, very achievable.
8 wins: Exceptional. This means either getting both WVU and UT or pulling off the OU upset.
9 wins: We're going streaking, through the quad and into the gymnasium.
