Updates
According to Logue...https://twitter.com/AndrewMLogue Rhoads says Steele Jantz will start again this week for the Cyclones.
Jake Knott remains day-to-day. He was not at practice Sunday so he could see a doc.. Coach Rhoads says they will know more tomorrow. -
Re: Updates
Will be nice to have 1 quarterback taking 100% of the first team snaps this week, first time since the week of TTU.

Re: Updates
Real shocker with the Jantz start next week.

Re: Updates
I am guessing we will know more about Jake tomorrow and if the assumed surgery takes place. It'll be nice to know.

Re: Updates
all i know is that wally did not give a "good game" kind of hug to Jake after the game. It was a long "congrats on a great career, it has been a pleasure to coach you" kind of hug.
also, other players on the sidelines went out of their way to give a him a "good game" hug that they didn't give to the rest of the defense. i may be reading too much into it too. And Jake has proven that he can play through any amount of pain if coach will let him. I think that is why he is being noncommital to saying he is done. Or him and coach being coy to force OU to game plan for him.

But then I got to thinking - the dude just played a game with what SHOULD have been a season-ending injury (supposedly.) They were possibly "that was impressive, you've got some heart, kid" hugs.

yeah, there were a lot of final game stuff going on if you were watching last night. Someone was taking a picture of Jake, AJ, and Wally during warmups. That doesn't normally happen. :)
I'm guessing that the coaches and people that know Jake, know that he needs surgery. And I'm guessing that Jake is pretty hard to convince. I am sure that it probably kills him to know that he probably could play, but it is better for him not to. Essentially he is trading in his last 4 or 5 games of CFB for a chance at the NFL which he knows is by no means a sure thing.

Re: Updates
So you're telling me that Jantz has a school-record performance and he gets to start?
Huh.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: Updates
Correct. There were no "good game" hugs. They were "thank you for being the face of ISU football and the help you have done to make this the rising progam we are" hug. Jake was and will continue to be the face of the ISU program. He just might not be in uniform

Re: Updates
Isn't this what it means by taking things day-by-day? They don't know when his last will be. This was the first possible last game.

Yeah, he will be (along with others, including AJ) one of the guys we point to in the future as where this all began....when Iowa State football became a big deal.

Re: Updates
Jake and AJ shared pre-game moment as well that looked more senior day than homecoming. Either they are taking nothing for granted and soaking it in because it is almost over, or knew last night was it.

Re: Updates
Speaking of updates, any updates on how the recruits visit went? I know we got the commit DE from Florida, but how about the others? I also had a source tell me Campos was there. I hope we keep going after him.
