Jake Knott is out for the season

He is the heart of the team. I was astounded when I saw him out there with the other captains leading drills before the game. Guessing he wanted to help us have a shot at bowl eligibility and put that ahead of his own body.

I blame Chizik for leaving the LB cupboard bare...We only had Jesse Smith, Fred Garrin, and Josh Raven when Klein and Knott came in---They were the only two (IIRC) that didn't redshirt in their class. I know this is a huge what-if but I just can't believe his career is over. Kids like Jake Knott, Jordan Carstens, etc. don't come around often

Sad news, but what a way to go out! Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week! By playing injured, and perfroming as you did.....you confirmed your status as an ISU legend!

The others will just have to step up. Watching Jake these past years, would it surprise anyone to see him come back for the bowl game after his surgery?

Wish him all the luck in the world. Hope this does not hurt his NFL draft status too much.

Please don't go there. "Tough guy" or not, your body needs a chance to heal, and arguably he hurried back from his last surgery. I'd far rather that he had a life without a bad shoulder for the next fifty-odd years.

He's given a great deal to this team and school. Thanks, Jake, and best wishes for everything.

Always will remember him for sealing the Iowa game. Great player and am excited to see younger guys step up. Think of how much more some of our other LBs will be along come next fall with the increased playing time they'll get.

Okie State pick got us the game. That will always be my top Jake Knott play.

I was in awe of Jake in a play-off game against Ankeny his senior year when he played injured I believe on a fractured foot. He still was tough as nails and all over the field, and his career at ISU has ended the same way. That's the way I'll remember Jake, tough as nails and all over the field, the way a great linebacker should be. Thanks Jake and we're all praying for a good result from your surgery and a great NFL career ahead of you.

Jake is a great kid off the field too. He came out after a game and played catch with my son for 5 minutes. Jake even let my son tackle him. You couldn't get his #20 jersey off him the rest of the year.
