You know, I've thought this all along about this Jake Knott and AJ Klein truly embodying the spirit of what Jack Trice is about, "wrecklessly throwing my body about the field of battle" (All In). I wish/hope that the first week of practice each year is about teaching the new kids who Trice was and how Jake and AJ are two Cyclones who "get it". Loyal Sons, All In, Jack Trice lives on.
How about if the Athletic Department starts an annual "Jack Trice Award" which would go to a Cyclone football player who exemplifies the spirit of Jack Trice. I would nominate Jake Knott to be the first recipient of the award. Ignore this post if there already is a "Jack Trice Award"!
Jake, thanks for the memories. You are and will always be a true Cyclone warrior. I look forward to hearing your name called early in the evening on April 25 and watching you for a long time on Sundays.

I really like this idea. If its not being done now, it needs to start.
Truly saddened by the news today. Jake Knott is a fine football player and even greater person/leader.
It has been a absolute pleasure cheering for him and seeing him leave everything on the field each Saturday.
Jake Knott is the toughest football player I have ever seen. He will definitely be missed not only as a great football player, but also as a leader. Hopefully the next guy in steps up.
Favorite Teams: Kansas City Chiefs: 2-14, 1st Pick in Draft, QB Acquired, Optimistic future Iowa State Cyclones Basketball: 23-12(11-7) Season Over-Thank you seniors Chicago Cubs: 4-8, Another ugly season incoming. Thank you Ricketts.
I think we can all take a lession from the legend of knott no matter how painful things may be we just have to pop our shoulder back into place and keep tackling life #inknottwetrust #godblessyou Jake Knott
He is the heart of the team. I was astounded when I saw him out there with the other captains leading drills before the game. Guessing he wanted to help us have a shot at bowl eligibility and put that ahead of his own body.
Legend. And he wasn't just out there. Big 12 defensive player of the week, a game changer... with torn shoulder muscles. I bet an outsider would find the legend of Jake Knott hard to believe. Hell I watched it and it is still hard to believe.
Sad day for Jake and the Cyclone Nation. What makes him a true legend is not only his statistical football numbers, but the person that he is. Very few of us have ever had the chance to meet him or shake his hand yet he has touched us all. That has everything to do with the person inside that football body. Not only should kids look up to such a fine individual, but most adults could benefit from it too. Great things are in your future Jake. You will be blessed even more than you have blessed our Cyclone family the last four years. A loyal son forever true........thanks for the memories!
toughest player ever! Except for maybe the time when the Okie State QB threw up Play Station numbers on us on a broken leg.
Perspective.
Put thanks for the memories Jake, best of luck in the future.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
