I think they should just have Nealy wear #20 for the rest of the season.

Re: How can we acknowledge Jake on saturday
Some of you people are crazy. It's a shoulder injury, not anything life threatening. Do something simple: make some shirts, posters, paint up. No need to do anything really extreme like a helmet decal or have someone wear #20.

My tribute would be to bring out the idiot who posted about our injury free season so We can all throw rocks at him.

Re: How can we acknowledge Jake on saturday
I agree with those who have said that there's no need to have a legacy number for Jake Knott. He got hurt, it happens in football.
I do think it would be cool if AJ wore #20 for the rest of the season though. It's not complicated, it's not permanent, but it would be a simple show of solidarity between 2 guys who came to Ames together and have been inextricably linked throughout their careers. This is of course assuming that AJ & Jake would be down with the idea.

In the words of Gary Bertier, "I'm hurt, I'm not dead."
“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.” -
Re: How can we acknowledge Jake on saturday
Show up and be as loud as possible for the entire team, for the entire game. Make sure the fans have an effect on the game and do everything to help get the win.
That will mean more to Jake than anything.
The worst thing we could do would be to honor him and go out of our way and then have the fans disappear if OU takes the lead.

I think it would have to be a pretty significant lead for that to happen. It didn't happen last year against the #2 team in the country when down by a 24-7 count.

Re: How can we acknowledge Jake on saturday
I love Knott, but if his number goes on other peoples uniforms, Kleins number goes on other peoples uniforms.
No, I'm not proposing the idea.
Jake Knott is alive and fine (well, except he can't play football.) He doesn't need tubes to help him breathe. He didn't come close to death. His dedication to Iowa State will always be remembered, and we don't need his # on any jerseys to know this.
And, if you know Jake Knott, he doesn't want his # on a jersey, he just wants Iowa State singing the fight song to the student section at the end of the game.

Re: How can we acknowledge Jake on saturday
My personal dream scenario would be for Klein to get a pick-six, breaking the career NCAA record, and then him presenting that ball to Jake. And win the game, of course.

As cheesy as it is, a sign that says "This is Knott the end."
