On the bright side, they lost to Notre Dame before losing the following week in '99... just like in 2012? Their second loss in 1999 was to Texas and OU's final record was 7-5 with an Independence Bowl loss.
This just makes it even more enjoyable when we win.

Baylor 37
Iowa State 24
Not enough offense, defense continues to look average.
Not just pointing you out, but these comments are what I am referring to. Hopefully we can rid ourselves of this type of stuff. As someone else said this is not your grandpa's Cyclones. It has taken a couple years but the talent is there now to compete with anyone in this league.

Wow...just wow. (not in a good way)
Soo....people not going into the week expecting the team to win every game will cause us to be looking for a new coach? I don't think I've read something that dumb since the time I went over to HN just for the helluvit after a loss.
The fan base expecting to win doesn't have any impact on whether it happens or not. Ask Notre Dame for the last 20 years before this one.
However, if you're worried about CPR keeping his job, the fanbase having unrealistic expectations does have an impact on coaches keeping their job. DMAC was fat and happy until the fans expected to win 8 or 9 games every season because we 'were there man'.
So, people having tempered expectations will actually help CPR keep his job in the short term.

Re: Anyone else have a good feeling about this wknd?
I have one of two feelings before every Iowa State game:
1) I hope we don't choke, or
2) I hope we don't get killed.
I'm feeling more like #2 for this one.

Defense was average against OK St and I knew Baylor had offensive firepower. ISU offense was terrible against OK St, so my prediction makes sense.
But you are Captain Hindsight, so whatever.

We can certainly win. We'll see what happens.

Re: Anyone else have a good feeling about this wknd?
My feeling is:
"I wonder which team will show up this Saturday?"
I think this team is good enough to play with and beat any team on the schedule. Whether they do or not is up in the air a bit. To say they have been inconsistent, especially on offense, would be an understatement.
If the D can keep doing what they've been doing even without Knott, and the offense can show any kind of consistency, I think this game can come down to the 4th quarter.
If the offense ***** the bed like they did against TTU they will leave the D hanging out to dry and we will lose by 2 or 3 scores.

Re: Anyone else have a good feeling about this wknd?
The Baylor game was nice, but we still have yet to show anything on offense against a team with a good defense. Unfortunately, I think OU is one of those teams so I think we drop this one by at least a couple TDs.
That said, the Baylor game has me feeling much more optimistic in the final 3 games of the year.

Apparently. I just now learned that apparently there was one.
