Announcers on Baylor game

Wow! This JC guy is painful to listen to. I just watched the first half, plus a little of the second half so far. JC talked about a problem that we've had all year is missed tackles. Huh?

He's thought two ISU reviews would be overturned, and when it's not he acts like he said that instead.

But one of the worst things I've heard so far is on the long touchdown by Albert Gary, he kept saying the defender tried to collision him. What? WTF? Who says that? I've never heard that term and he said it three times.

Maybe he knows football, but I sure couldn't tell. How in the world does he have a good gig like this? Am I just being too hard on him?

JC Pearson I think. Yeah, he's awful. I know what he meant on the Gary thing and really it's true but he does suck.

Also heard the "collision" description. Terrible. And I know this is a typical thing to say, but they sounded disappointed/surprised when ISU took control of the game. Listen to the Woody TD.

Some of these guys need to take a cue from the old days, when announcers didn't feel the need to keep yapping every second of air time. They need to realize that sometimes it's OK to just let the game play and then comment on what happened. I don't think some of these guys would be all that bad if they just didn't feel the need to constantly be flapping their lips. It's OK to STFU. I think the fact that Dan Dierdorf still has a job makes guys new to the job think that they always have to be talking about something. Weather that's stating the obvious or talking about what a good cook the kid's mom is. It's a ******* travesty how bad announcing has become.

Do you think they like calling a close game more or a blowout more?

I wouldn't read too much into it.

Dudes announces like he has never seen a snap of football. If that was actually the truth I would have been impressed. But yeah...he fails. Still I'll take a crappy announcer in a Cyclone victory over a great announcer in a Cyclone loss.

He sucked badly. I need to rewatch it. I think it was on one of the plays that was overturned that he changed his opinion each time he repeated himself, and as the OP said he ended up stating it as though he was right all along.

I was at the game, but when I watched it on the DVR, couldn't believe how bad it was. Not sure what was worse, when they did a feature on Lenz as our best receiver and never once mentioned that he wasn't playing or when they repeatedly referred to #20 as Luke Knott.

My 84 year old neighbor with dementia at least knows that the guy with J. Knott on his jersey is Jake, not Luke. Pretty sure he would call a better game than these guys.

I didn't think it could get much worse than Eric Crouch, but JC took the cake. I agree about their tone during the game, it was subtle but it was like they didn't want/expect us to win. Crouch may be a little clichéd but at least he seems reasonably unbiased.

Didn't think he was very good either, but the "collision" comment is a very common football term in the defensive backfield. Don't know where it came from, but collision is very commonly used as a verb.
ex: The DB is trying to collision the WR to keep him from getting a free release downfield.

I think Crouch is a very good analyst BTW. He is spot on with most of what he says.

That was the one that prompted me to start this thread and forgot to mention it.

I missed the game, but watced the replay on cyclones.tv last night. The color guy did have a raging boner for Williams(?) - the WR.

As many times as he said it, I figured that it must be regular term, but it sounds terrible. Not sure how I've missed that in the past. It seems like this would be a better way to say it, "The DB was trying to run interference", or "The DB was trying to alter the WR's route", or ANYTHING...
