O LINE PROTECTION

If our O-Line can give steel time to throw i think the ISU pulls the out the win. We have seen what happens when Steele has the time to set his feet. He is pretty accurate. point being the TD pass to Jarvis in the back of the endzone and the wheel route to Ernst down the side line. The O-Line got on track with Baylor and needs to keep going against OU. Once we stretch the field on deep balls like we did we Baylor we can also run and keep the time of possesion. the less that OU is on offense the more i like our chances. WE CANNOT HAVE MULTIPLE 3 AND OUTS this week.

If Steele goes out and plays like he did last week. We will win. Sounds simple, but OU's defense is stout....reeeeallly stout.

i like your all around prediction, just hope steele dosent get happy feet AND HOLDS ON TO THE BALL! other than that all for him starting back up Saturday.

Also, Steele showed some leadership last weekend. He was more talkitive in the huddle and on the field than I have ever seen him.

I'm expecting to see some turnovers. I just hope they are coming from OU and not Steele.

The O-line has been doing pretty well in the pass blocking for several games now, IMO. It's the run blocking that has been suspect, albeit with White out of the line-up.

The oline play will be key to this matchup (just like every other game). If ISU can run the ball for even 3-3.5ypc and the RBs continue to help pickup the blitz successfully I think we really scare the crap out of OU and could maybe come out with a win.

If they make us 1 demensional and force Steele to pass on everydown they will make plays for sacks, incompletions and interceptions that BU couldnt.

I want to see Steele step up into the pocket if it collapses this wknd

Worried about Steele throwing into tight coverage. He needs to learn he can't fit the ball into every opening he thinks he sees. If it's tight coverage, check down or throw it away.

Having James White back last week & Steele actually stepping up in the pocket & making throws made a huge difference. And playing Baylors D didn't hurt. I think we can move it some against their base D, question being what happens when they bring pressure?

I think the O-Line has been decent at both. However, prior to Baylor, with no threat of a deep pass, opposing defenses could stack the box and kill any chance of a running game even if the OL was blocking at their best. They could also blitz with impunity because they didn't fear getting beat deep which reflected poorly on the OL again.

Having an even somewhat effective passing game makes a big difference in how good the OL looks. If the defense has to defend both run and pass the OL will look better both run and pass blocking IMHO.

I have this concern as well, he got away with some questionable throws last week thanks to Baylor being completely awful in pass coverage. I think last week was good for SJ's confidence, but other than that last weeks game was the exception to the rule. But the OP nailed it, its no coincidence that Steele looked better when the Oline looked better, its just going to be a completely different animal this week. I'd expect OU to use the Tech blueprint try to force Steele into bad decisions. He didn't win the Baylor game all on his own, he won't win or lose the OU game on his own either.
