Re: Another record crowd Saturday?
If we had white helmets, we could justify both an NEZ and SEZ, and construct a new wing on the football facility to engineer new football helmet and uniform designs.
But also only if our players wear white shoes.

They won't even consider it until there is a chant on gameday.. who's going to get it started Saturday?

I think they will stop selling at 56,400. I think the crowd Saturday will be just below that. Right around 56,000.
Awesome to see the Jack fill up every single Saturday. Have they changed the configuration since the K-State game?
Kansas State (6-0,3-0) vs. Iowa State (4-2,1-2)
Date: Oct 13, 2012 • Site: Ames, Iowa • Stadium: Jack Trice Stadium
Attendance: 56800 http://www.cyclones.com/pdf8/954796.pdf -

Attendance: 56800 http://www.cyclones.com/pdf8/954796.pdf Sorry, my post wasn't very clear. The day of the KSU game it was rainy, so I think they sold more tickets that day than they usually would, knowing that many of the hill tickets wouldn't show because of the weather.
Last year when the Texas game "sold out" they stopped selling hills at 56,400, so I think that is their limit under normal conditions and normal turnouts.

Oklahomo travels well I wouldn't be shocked if we had close to the Kstate numbers if not more.

Re: Another record crowd Saturday?
i heard paul say on the radio today he doesn't even want the SEZ bowled in (immediately). Says it will hurt ticket sales (fewer hillsides) and prevent some families from buying cheap tickets... etc, etc.
at least thats how i understood it
he wants to play in front of a full stadium, which is what we have now.

Re: Another record crowd Saturday?
Uh oh. Looks like while CPR is here no SEZ. So it really comes down to what you want more ( and i do think the two are directly related)

he wants to play in front of a full stadium, which is what we have now. Kind of astonishing to hear at first, I would think that a stadium expansion would be a huge sell to recruits, but maybe it's not as good as saying that they'll be playing in front of near-sellout crowds for every game.
I think once we start selling out season tickets, we can probably start talking expansion, which I don't think we're quite to yet.

Re: Another record crowd Saturday?
SEZ doesn't hurt ticket sales. For every one that wants the grass and would opt out there are probably 2 that aren't buying because they don't want to sit on cold wet grass in Oct/Nov. Plus there will always be the north hills.
From the way Pollard seems to have been talking publicly lately I'll be surprised if this isn't coming soon

Re: Another record crowd Saturday?
I think it'll take at least one more year of crowds like we've been having before they seriously look at it. Unless a big donor steps up first, obviously.

he wants to play in front of a full stadium, which is what we have now. If you're talking about what he said on the call in show, I didn't take it that way. He didn't say anything about not wanting it. He just said that he likes playing in front of packed crowds. He didn't say anything about doubting our ability to fill it on the call in show.

From the way Pollard seems to have been talking publicly lately I'll be surprised if this isn't coming soon Just my opinion on the SEZ:
The prices would have to be cheap to have it in huge demand. SO...basically you'd have to reward hillsiders who want to see Big 12 football for the price of a movie with GA real seats at the cost of a 50-100 mil expansion. Not worth it at all IMO. Not to mention to make the new GA seats that replace the hillsides big enough to hold as much as the hillsides...it has to be huge. So the highest rows have to be higher (and further from the field) than row 30 of the upper level. If it is not that large and the SEZ stand is similar in size to the rest of the stadium or smaller...the capacity of JTS will remain the same or maybe even be reduced. It has to be enourmous and dwarf the rest of JTS for the capacity to get significantly over 60k. (The east and west stands hold a little less than 20k each I think.)
The press box is tiny and needs to be improved immediately. And JTS needs more/better club seats. Both more important.
The thing about the current configuration is it has 4 spots where you can sell 2k+ obstructed view seats on top of the 2k seats with views of the field. Thats 8k people between the 4 hills who you can have buy seats without getting a complete view. So every game ISU can potentially make 150-200k off people who can't see the entire field.
If you did bowl the SEZ you need to do 2 things. 1 move the field south 20-30 yards because the bowl will make the new seats miles from the end zone. 2. Put a bleacher in front of the Jacobson building. 3. Have it be a humongous 2-3 tiered stand so the capacity is significantly increased.
If stadium expansion is the right thing to do I'd add a third level to the East side. Or...replace the bleacher with a permanent stand that is in the same place but bigger but still allows the 2 south hillsides to be used.
Hillsides are cool you want to keep 4 of them, don't underestimate being able to sell 8k poor view seats (on top of the 8k decent grass seats) for games whenever you want. Not many schools have that ability (check my username I went to a school that is able to do this for basketball its very beneficial because the extra supply of bad seats doesn't lower demand for good ones since those seats aren't good or desirable in comparison to the rest of the stadium...)
