Ego is one reason why the Saban type easily could go to Texas. Just another notch in the belt.

Money, facilities, location, and the chance to be considered a savior (again) makes an open UT a threat to any school. Prior to Saban, the Bama job was not on par with UT.

I think UT would be stupid not to throw bunches of money at Chris Peterson from BSU. His window of opportunity at BSU is closing fast.
He could even reunite with his old OC.

Les Miles, Mullen, Patterson, Muschamp, and Brian Kelly will be the biggest names and I would guess 1 in this list will land the position.

I agree no way is Saban not pursued.

The difference between ISU as a program and UT is huge. I think there would end up being another stop along the way.
I disagree with this in today's CFB world. I think you have elite jobs and then not elite jobs. Is there a huge difference between ISU and, say WVU right now? I don't think so. I also think that there used to be a separation in what money meant. Let's say it take a finite amount of dollars to be able to get to a conference championship. We didn't have those dollars. It wasn't possible to have the facilities and coaches to get there. Now, we still have less money but that extra money is going toward things that give a marginal competitive return. Our extra money got us the IPF, and the ability to pay quality coaches. UT's get's them a fancier facility maybe but it doesn't likely give them anything over us in terms of what is needed. Obviously fancy draws recruits and fancy puts of a perception but there are kids who will come to ISU, see what we have and realize that's good enough to make them as good of a football player as possible compared to what UT has. I'm not saying we are their equal, I'm just syaing that gap in money doesn't mean nearly as much now. UT is buying bells and whistles. We are buying engines and tires.

I just think he's happy as can be drubbing everyone and it's getting to the point where I don't think he wants to go through the "rebuilding" process, for lack of a better term. He's not real young anymore.

I'll trust you know Saban's inner thoughts, but I would be surprised if his ego would be that flaccid about the "challenge" of UT.

Rep to you for using "flaccid" in a non-sexual context.

Rhoads is not leaving ISU for Texas.....ever.....can we stop the insanity.

He's also not going to Arkansas, Tennessee or any other SEC opening.

Instead, we should trade oil/SEZ money for Paul Rhodes. Everybody seems to think he works for us anyway...

I think orangebloods keeps surfacing CPR's name. I wish we had some trollers on this site that would be willing to go on there and distract them.....

Wittingham is interesting, he's not in jeopardy at utah yet but his teams have really struggled in the pac-12, so I'm not sure where he's viewed at this point.
