No question about it, today sucked. But Oklahoma was by far the best team left on the schedule. This is still an 8-4 football team, 7-5 at worst.
This team beat Texas 63-21, with Texas's scores almost all coming in garbage time.
This team beat Kansas 52-7. K-State beat Kansas 56-16.
The K-State team we fought 27-21 against beat WVU 55-14.
3 games left. 2 wins at the least, 3 wins very possible.
Texas's defense: 99th in the country.
Kansas's defense: 83rd in the country.
West Virginia's Defense: 118th in the country.
The season is far from over.
Re: ***Official Not Melting Down Thread***
But do we get these same refs at any point this year? Because that could negate a few opportunities.
Re: ***Official Not Melting Down Thread***
Yep, that's what I keep coming back to. It hurts to watch, but I expected to lose today. I had hope the team could surprise me, but a loss is what I expected.
I'm still confident that we can win out from here.
Re: ***Official Not Melting Down Thread***
You're dumb as **** if you are melting down after this game. I think most(smart people) knew we were probably going to lose today.

Agree with all of this. OU has owned us forever. Hate it, but it's a fact. Today means nothing in the grand scheme. I still think we get to 7-5.
But kinda lame you are already giving up and putting up a post-game thread while our boys are still fighting (not well, but fighting).
Re: ***Official Not Melting Down Thread***
Losing to a better team. Period.
Re: ***Official Not Melting Down Thread***
And none of our losses were truly against teams we should have beat. Yes, I know people will hate this, but we weren't favored in any of those games, and 3 of those teams are in the BCS top 20, and all are in the BCS rankings

Yeah, there is no doubt OU is the better team, but that's the problem I have today. We didn't try to do anything different. We didn't take any chances. If I see another 3 down lineman against a team you stop by getting pressure, I'm going to lose my mind. This was the worst defensive scheme we could have tried against this team. Basically we played prevent on every 3rd down or big passing situation and it sucked.
Re: ***Official Not Melting Down Thread***
I'm melting down. We should fire Rhoads, bench Jantz, bench the whole D, and cancel all SEZ plans. Team won't win another game, and no one will ever want to watch this sorry excuse of a team. A disgrace to the university.

I think part of that is because we don't have Knott. Knott is clearly better than George in pass situations, and can cover and stay in zones better. With Knott, we didn't need to get pressure, because he had the athleticism to make a play on a good throw.
Re: ***Official Not Melting Down Thread***
However this game turns out, CPR will get them before too long.
And Texas is a different proposition.

The thing is we're close enough to them that a few plays can turn these into wins, maybe not so much today, and that's where you have to watch for frustration.

You are obviously a loser and have low standards. The expectation should be to win every game no matter what, and it is considered a complete and utter failure when this doesn't happen. Playing the #1 team on the road? Nothing short of a dominate win should be tolerated.
