There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams
I wouldn't recommend Lot 90 unless you have a shuttle or other transportation to take you over to the game. It's probably at least a mile, and hilly. I bet you can get a spot on the Hill, just South of the stadium, that would serve your purposes a lot better.
I think it'd be just as easy to park on the parking ramp at the Student Union, which is within a three iron of the stadium, and go walk over to the hill.
Here's a map of the area. The ramp is SE of the practice fields. The hill is South of the stadium (and North of the Campanile), but any of that land around the stadium (it's all a little hilly) would be a fine tailgating area for ISU fans. There's enough apathy among KU fans at this point that there should be plenty of room on the hill. And I doubt the parking lot and field event area that's East of the Stadium is completely full - although those may be reserved spots - if you want something a little flatter.
From that google map, you can search Lot 90 (it's the big lot East of the baseball field - I used to park there for BB games and law school). It's certainly not a lot I would have ever considered parking in for a football game, but I suppose you could do it. (There may actually be a free shuttle run by KU from there to the stadium but don't hold me to that.)
If anyone needs any more information about Lawrence, I lived there for 21 years, so let me know if I can help.
Going with a few others, and I think our plan was to hit up Mass Street around noon for lunch and drinks, and then kind of work our way over to the stadium. Lot 90 would be fun, and we know a few folks on the CF charter, but that's the complete opposite direction.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
