NFL Draftscout early draft projections
Just looked at NFL Draftscouts early draft projections. A few suprises. They list A.J. Klein as the number 9 inside linebacker and Jake Knott if I remember correctly as 21st rated outside linebacker and project both to be drafted in the 6th round. I thought they'd each go by at least round three. Maybe it's not to be taken seriously because they actually list James Vandenburg of Iowa as the 18 best quarterback and project him as a 7th round or undrafted free agent. At least three other Cyclones, maybe more listed. Steele Jantz ranked twenty-ninth quarterback, not drafted and also I believe a DT and TE, Hammerschmidt I think as being undrafted free agents. Just some info. in case anybody wants to check it out.

Re: NFL Draftscout early draft projections
Personally, I think that Knott and Klein will really impress at the combine. Knott's shoulder issues will hurt his stock some though. My guess:
Klein - 4th Rd
Knott - 5th Rd
McDonough - 7th Rd
Bykowski - UFA
Givens - UFA
Lenz - tryout
Jantz - tryout...I don't know that he's earned it, but the pros seem to always be in love with measureables and Jantz has them.
Maggitt - tryout
Laing - tryout

Re: NFL Draftscout early draft projections
I expect to hear Klein called for sure on day 2, Knott probably (would have been for sure before the injury), and McDonough likely to get into a camp. The other players you listed on defense might get lucky and make a camp as an undrafted free agent, but I don't see any of our offensive seniors getting much of a look unless they absolutely catch on fire the last three games and a bowl game.

Re: NFL Draftscout early draft projections
Going into the year I thought Knott would be a third rounder and Klein a 5th. Getting hurt every year and not finishing this year might hurt Knott, especially since hes from a "small school" that people just don't pay much attention two. Typical type of good guy that falls through the cracks and a brilliant GM finds a late round or undrafted gem. Both should be locks to get drafted... but LJ should have been last year too.

Wouldn't it be interesting/cool if Jantz just caught on fire his last 3 games + bowl game?
We can dream, can't we? -
Re: NFL Draftscout early draft projections
Wait until they work out. People don't give them enough credit athletically.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -

We can dream, can't we? He's been pretty solid that last 2 games imo. Our receivers haven't been doing him any favors.

Re: NFL Draftscout early draft projections
Jantz is on fire for recent ISU QB standards. We need him to catch fire by Big 12 conference standards. But yes also totally correct he's played well the last two games and other than Jarvis. Our WRs really aren't helping him

I think both Knott and Klein are going to do well in the pro game with one or maybe both having having similar careers to Greenway with the Vikings.

A love Knott and AK but to say they're going to have similar careers to a pro bowler is a bit of a stretch at this point.

Re: NFL Draftscout early draft projections
Knott and AK will only be drafted if they perform well in the combine/pro day IMO. I'm not saying they still won't have successful pro careers.

There is no way Klein doesn't get drafted unless he gets a bad injury. He was Big XII Defensive Player of the Year last year and is having another great year this year. He may not get his name called in the first round, but his name will be called.

Steele Jantz in the NFL is laughable.
