Purdue in a bowl????
I thought this a few weeks ago, but I can't past the desire of the Pinstripe Bowl getting the east coast Big 12 school ... when it looked like the renewal of the 'Backyard Brawl' was possible with Pitt, I was quite confident this would happen ... I'm not as sure now that Pitt is virtually eliminated, but I'm sticking with WVU in NYC for now
So basically, you really, really, really have to suck really bad to not go to a bowl anymore.
I like that Lousiana Tech/Lousiana Lafayette matchup....
I prefer the Holiday Bowl first and Meineke second.
The biggest thing going for us and WVU flipping on that is that WVU is far from the other big 12 bowls, and has had a disappointing season for them, so likely wouldnt bring many fans to those bowls. However a bowl vs a big east team in a much closer location in NYC would sell tickets.
For selling tickets, if the last 3 teams available are WVU, TCU, ISU, the arrangement that would sell the most tickets for all bowls would be ISU holiday, TCU houston, and WVU pinstripe.
Houston is a great place to cheer for the Cyclones -- GO CYCLONES!!!!!!
This is true and very good news for us. The only question mark that I see about this is if WVU finishes 7-5 as both TCU and ISU go 6-6 - probably the most likely potential outcome. WVU going to the "worst" bowl out of the three with the best record may not sit well with them. WVU would also certainly pull bigger TV ratings than us, too. If the Pac-12 team in the Holiday Bowl is fairly close by, like UCLA, they may choose to go with WVU to play up the quality of the bowl and take a hit on the tickets from the Big 12 - especially if WVU is 7-5.
If ISU goes 7-5 and the conference gets two teams into the BCS, we really should be going to the Holiday Bowl. Just gotta take care of business.
Actually, the Big 12 also has an agreement with the Heart of Dallas Bowl (played on New Year's Day in the Cotton Bowl Stadium) ... It is not unthinkable that the 8th (last) bowl eligible team would play in this game and the Pinstripe Bowl could go with an at-large team from the northeast to play a Big East team ... stranger things have happened, especially if the only team left is an Iowa State team that just went to NYC last year
I would love to see ISU vs. Purdue, it would cap a season of Big 10 teams getting beat down.
This means that this guy is picking WVU to beat Oklahoma? No ******* way.
