ISU will lose this game . . . . the offense cannot move the ball for more than a couple of touchdowns. Besides, Kansas has everything to play for.

Thinking ISU will lose is your prerogative, but ISU has more to play for.

Their O (James Sims) plays right into the strength of our defense. Question is can our O remove head from anus. I'll be there yelling along with what seems like a pretty big contingent of Cyclones.
This is correct. As a Jayhawk I would love to finally get a conference victory but this isn't a good matchup for us. It's much easier to beat you guys through the air then on the ground and we can't pass. I mean we really can't pass. Haven't seen anything like it. I wondered why Weis kept Crist in as long as he did when he was so pitiful, then I found out when he finally replaced him. We have two quarterbacks that rank in the 120's in D1 football, it's got to be killing Weis but he just has nobody to play that position.

    Everything to play for?
They're playing for one conference win.
We're playing for one of the best seasons we've ever had.

    We're playing for more.

    Re: will we beat kansas?

It has been more than 2 years since KU won a Big 12 game. They beat CU by a TD on November 6, 2010. That CU win broke an 11 game Big 12 losing streak that had been running since they beat ISU by 5 in October of 2009. That's right, they have won 2 conference games in the last 32, by a combined 12 points. They lost at home this year to Rice and gave Baylor their only conference win of the season.

That said, our offense just looks lost this season, and KU has been playing teams tough in Lawrence. I know everybody wants to say that this program is different now under CPR, but we have had a nice history of being the league's slump buster. We haven't blown KU away the last couple years, and they just gave TT a fight last Saturday. This just feels to me like it is setting up to be another ISU kicked in the nuts classic. It give Charlie his first conference win, and snaps the KU losing streak in classic ISU fassion. I'm taking KU in a close one.

Checking out of this thread after page 1. Much prefer the thread started by the 18 year old (topgun) who gives a rational explanation for why we should be optimistic.

WOW! i didn't realize the stats were that skewed. and we all thought our passing game sucked...well it still does, but 68 passing yards in 2 games? ouch. you would think that with all the solid rushing they are doing they could set up some easy play action passes for their qb to dump off for 10-15 yards. just like wishbone/flexbone offenses do. is their QB simply that inaccurate?

this gives me a new sense of hope (believe it or not). as mentioned, we do match up well with kansas compared to most any other big 12 team we have faced.

Well just when you think you cannot do something against ISU, well you can. We have taken a few steps back the past couple of weeks and need to take two steps forward this weekend. Its either going to be a good game or blowout one way or the other.

    Re: will we beat kansas?

I know we're in the dumps after losing two straight, but the reality of it also is that we lost to two of the best teams in the league in Oklahoma and Texas, and we have held every team we've played this year to less than their scoring average, some of them way below. If we do that against Kansas, we win. Unlike Texas and Oklahoma, Kansas is a one dimensional offense, and our run defense is one of the best. This is the week we get our running game going and grind out a win.

    Re: will we beat kansas?

I actually feel pretty good about winning out. People are always too down on the team when we lose and too high when we win. Yeah we've lost the last 2 games but they were against Oklahoma and at Texas. That will make a lot of teams look bad. Kansas is improving but they aren't Oklahoma or Texas. Kansas has played everyone close but they've also found ways to lose. Yes, this game scares me, but I still think we win.

    Oklahoma D >= Texas D >>>>>>>>>Kansas D

That makes me feel better. I think our most sound game we played this year was Baylor. And I think Kansas is closer to Baylor than Texas.

    Re: will we beat kansas?

I'll never understand why Iowa State fans are saying that we will no doubt lose to Kansas. They are not a that good of a football team. They have battled with some good teams, but they also have only one win. If you really think we will definitely lose on Saturday you are either extremely pessimistic or really don't understand the quality of team we are and the quality of team we are playing.

    Re: will we beat kansas?

Our season is at the turning point now. Some had hoped we wouldn't only be @ 5-5 going into KU game, some are happy we're @ 5-5 with bowl game chances still alive. Either way, we're here and my only hope is...win or lose...we come out focused and with a cutthroat/we're either winning or going down swinging to the last punch mentality. Anything but some single digit performance egg dropped in Lawrence puh-lease...Let's learn how to finish and execute all game Cyclones and get back to JTS with the option to get to a BETTER bowl game @ 7-5.
