Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
I figured by this point in the season, we would be seeing him more.
I think he looks sort of like the poor man's James White; not pure power but not as much of a juker.
I thought he would be in 4-5 carries per game just to give rest to White and Johnson.

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
SJ had 9 carries and JW had 13 vs Texas. Those two both should get carries before Nealy and they didnt get many.

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
Our primary running backs are only getting like 3 carries a game each already. If I was a guy like Woody I'd be pretty ****** off right now and adding another guy to the mix would make it even worse.

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
i would guess the coaches just think johnson and white are better. why give him 4-5 carries if all it does is take them away from better players?

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
Our top RBs haven't even been getting enough carries so it's tough to say that Nealy should be getting more.
We are struggling to run the ball consistently and putting in a guy with less physical strength and experience might not help that much. If the OL was opening up holes for everyone consistently, I would say put him in a bit more.

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
We need to get the ball into the hands of White more, then SJ more before we start worrying about Nealy.

Haha, we all said about the same thing in 4 different posts, within 2 minutes.

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
Kinda like where is Jeff Woody, none of the backs are getting enough touches.

He isn't as flashy as SJ, but he seems to just be more effective. He is more patient and waits for holes to open up. Although SJ can also hit holes that are smaller, which is his biggest strength IMO.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
RB's are getting enough carries, and WR's aren't getting enough receptions... except a lot of that is the WR's fault. They keep dropping the balls so they don't get those receptions, and those drops don't move the chains so the RB's can get more carries. For the most part Jantz has been doing fine, hes hitting the receivers the chains just aren't moving. Playcalling has been a bit of a problem.

I would say RBs are getting enough of a % of the offense as carries, but our offense sucks so we don't run enough plays to get them a decent amount. (Minus baylor obviously, which was mostly passing anyway)

Re: Where is DeVondrick Nealy?
My takeaway is we have had basically one long running play all year (56 yards by White) after 325 team carries. That is not good. Time for a Blum/Brun article on big running plays.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Didn't you notice Jeff Woody is in only when we're on our 1 yard line and we're in the shotgun formation.
