How fast is Jantz
I tried looking up 40 times or old track times and got nothing. His legs have no churn. This is not another QB starting thread, I legitimately want to know if he could run a sub 11 second 100M dash.

Probably around 4.6 or 4.7 is my guess. Closer to 4.7.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -

I would say sub-4.6, 4.58ish....

Re: How fast is Jantz
Steele Jantz is fast. To give you a reference point, he is somewhere between a snake and a mongoose... and a panther.

Re: How fast is Jantz
Jantz is pretty darn fast, don't know the speed, but he has gotten out of a lot of tight spots this year that most QBs would not. It is too bad he really doesn't know how to run with the ball, because he could be way more effective. He spends way too much time trying to juke people in the open field instead of just running full speed.

I am guessing that on a track in shorts Jantz probably runs a 4.7 forty. On the football field he is slower than guys who run a 4.9 forty. He is not a good runner. He stumbles all the time and often falls down without getting hit. He has tried to run more up field lately and has looked better doing it.
BTW you must not know how fast a sub 11 second 100 meters is. I would guess there are very few players on the ISU team that run sub 11 seconds in the 100. Most of the skill players probably run low 11 seconds. All you have to do is look up some of the recruits track numbers to see that this is the case. Ellis Hobbs ran a 10.6 100 meters in high school (his fastest time).

Re: How fast is Jantz
Rhoads said last year that Jantz may be the fastest guy on the team. CyCloned got it right when he said he doesn't know how to run with the ball. I don't think he has enough "vision" while running the ball, so he's not able to run at top speed most of the time that he scrambles. I'd guess that in a foot race down the sideline, he'd look very fast.

It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element. -

Re: How fast is Jantz
I think Steele is running better with the ball actually.

The problem is that most of these guys are not 160 pounds and possess many other skills that make them good football players. Straight line speed is great if you can do the other things.
The problem is that many "track guys" cannot do the other things. And whoever said Jantz is the fastest guy on the team must have heard a quote incorrectly because there is no way that is the case. I think Rhoads has said he is the fastest quarterback.
Interesting that the TCU coach said that it surprised their defense because Barnett is much faster than the starter. And that's the difference between track speed and football speed.

Re: How fast is Jantz
I don't think I've ever seen him successfully juke a defender in a one on one situation.

Re: How fast is Jantz
From the field to the bench in less than one quarter! Now THAT'S fast.
