Somewhat off topic, but several are talking of the "cyclone-power" chant. Remember a couple years ago when Jeff Johnson "taught" that to all pre-game and people were upset (true fans don't need prompting, etc)...now that tradition travels with us? Pretty cool...

Yep, in these tight economic times...I'm absolutely sure we are the ONLY school.

Funny thing is. Jeff Johnson actually started one of the Cyclone Power chants at Lawrence on Saturday.

I think the Cyclone Power chant started at Basketball Games quite a while ago.
No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.

I think the issue was always with JJ's on field antics, not the actual cheers (Although C Y - C L - O N E S was pretty brutal). Once it didn't seem forced it was good to go.

Sidenote: I do like Jeff Johnson and think he has found the place he belongs on gameday helping out with the band's pregame show at the alumni center.

That's surely an exaggeration, but when you see how many schools bring at least a pep band to Ames compared to how few games ISU travels to, I bet we're towards the bottom, if not the very bottom, in AD financial support in our conference. It's not like ISU is a big rival or shortest travel distance for conference schools when they bring their bands.

If you are in the front row, you do not need to stand on your seat the whole game. It may also be a good idea to mix in a verb other than the F bomb every 5th word. Show some respect and class when you are a guest. For their part, KU fans were gracious and polite.
I had a group of 11 in section 22 front row middle and I can guarantee you either you are talking about the 8 or 9 guys that snuck down behind us in row 2 or 3 or you are mistaken. We had 4 children under the age of 13 and the people using all the profanity were a few KU girls that started laying into us the minute we walked in the stadium. Even my 10 year old called out the one girl telling her that she should stop swearing because she sounds like trash. The first time they did their wave for touchdowns the one KU girl came down and laid on my back pushing me into the fence and hitting the back of my head and continued swearing at my kids and others every time they scored. Luckily that didn't last long. They laid off by half time and were down having fun talking to us. We did stand on our seats the first 5 minutes or so, but there wasn't a fan until you got to the 5th or 6th row and the rows were all blue as far as I could see. I can guarantee you we showed plenty of class, so I will assume your condescending trailer remarks are pointed at something I did not see in our section. We had an absolute blast being down that low and being loud and met other groups in our section that were having plenty of fun also. If you want to sit and watch a game without any excitement watch it at home!

I was in the front row of section 22 as well and I think I know who the referenced "double-wide" ISU fans were. Some guys who were heckling the camera guys, cheerleaders, band, etc. I've come to the realization that while generalizations can be made about fan bases and we pride ourselves on having good fans, ALL fan bases have idiots.

As far as standing on the seats in the front row, you had to otherwise to see over the players on the side line. Plus, if seeing ISU hang 50+ points on a conference opponent isn't a good reason to stand up during the game, I don't know what is. I didn't hear a single person ask anybody to sit down.

It was an awesome experience to be that close to the team, especially during a game like that.

    Re: CPR After KU Game

Agree completely 98. I kept hearing different heckling things behind us now and then, but I can guarantee it didn't come out of the front row. We had a blast and my kids will remember it for the rest of their life getting on TV, shaking Jake Knott's hand and just having a blast celebrating the Cyclones becoming bowl eligible in the same day that the Squawkeyes were assured to stay home for the holidays. I just was letting this dude know that it was not the front row and yes there is a reason no one sits in the seats up to like the 5th row as the first row does stand to see anything.

I was in section 22 front row with my three daughters aged 13 and lower. We were about in the middle of the section and no one in our group was dropping F bombs every 5th word or I would have been up in their grill about it. Surely you are referring to another group than us because you also mention all the classy KU fans around you in the 5th row so obviously didn't see or hear the KU drunk gals that stood the whole time in row 5 that were dropping F bombs the whole night and heckling ISU players including harassing Brayden Burris after he injured his knee calling him a Fing crybaby. I stood up most of the night but on the concrete, not the seats but in order to see anything at all over the ISU players, you had to stand up.
