They played each other for a while waaaaayyyy back in the day, when WVU was still known as Coal Mining Institute of the Upper Western Portion of the Great State of Virginia. All three games ended in ties, because it was before the touchdown, field goal, safety and extra point were introduced. Unfortunately, the series was cancelled partly due to the outbreak of the Civil War, but mostly because neither Iowa State College or the game of football existed yet.
