ISU did what it could to win that game. Arceo hit an upright. And Woody coughed up the game. Richardson kept up with Smith. And the D got some stops. WVA showed up and played well ISU did great to play the game they did. It just sucks the scrub cult hero former walk on running back lost the team the game. But he gets way too many carries and it lost the team the chance to get to 8 wins and a good bowl.
White shouldn't lose carries to Woody but he does, I understand the kid has done plenty of nice things in his time but he isn't the type of player you take out big time programs with.
If Woody walked on at WVA would he get a single meaningful carry his entire career?
Giving him those carries was stupid it wasn't even at the 1 or 2 yard line. Remember the OSU game last year? Guess not. Woody made a mistake this time, I wont argue that. But to say that you should not give the ball to your most sure-handed running back near the goal line, now that is "idiotic".

In terms of soul crushing, I'd take Woody's fumble over listening to Nickelback anyday. Unrelated, sure, but thought I'd share.

Re: big huge elephant
Clearing Knownothing literally knows nothing. Our defense has played pretty well this year all things considered. Consistently holding teams under their scoring averages, and doing it with some key injuries late in the season. It's the Big 12, in case you haven't noticed most of the offenses are pretty good. It's not a league where defenses are going to hold teams under 10 points consistently. If you want that then go to the Little 10.

Fact is Woody has been rewarded with the touches every running back dreams of (this really shouldn't be debatable.) In my opinion its been to the detriment of the real running backs on the team. Not to mentionhe ball was on the 10 not the 2 yard line giving him that carry was stupid and the team was down 7 not 3. And it sucks he fumbled he's done plenty of good things but White is a much better football player regardless of that 1 play and should have been in instead.
It was a horrible play that lost the game, games are won and lost on certain plays if we scored a TD and Arceo missed the XP he'd have to take the blame wouldn't he?

Re: big huge elephant
Isnt there 4 starters injured on D?

Re: big huge elephant
Before the injuries we may have been a great defense. Now we are not. Talk about averages all you want, other teams did manage to shut WVU down. We did not.

Re: big huge elephant
Rhoads played the percentages & it just didn't work out this time with Woody.
As far as the OP goes.....how do you live with yourself after comments like these?

Re: big huge elephant
I guess I go on scoring defense, not yards. Our scoring defense has been pretty solid all year.
There have been some not so great games, but mostly the defense has been fine....especially considering the injuries we've had.

Re: big huge elephant
| Team | Pts | Games | Pts/Gm | | Kstate | 186 | 8 | 23.25 | | OU | 175 | 7 | 25.00 | | OSU | 178 | 7 | 25.43 | | ISU | 248 | 9 | 27.56 | | TCU | 230 | 8 | 28.75 | | Texas | 263 | 8 | 32.88 | | Texas Tech | 300 | 8 | 37.50 | | KU | 302 | 8 | 37.75 | | Baylor | 290 | 7 | 41.43 | | WVU | 380 | 8 | 47.50 |
But according to the OP, we're losing because of our defense.

Did you watch KU and the last couple of drives of this game? To say the other running backs are really running backs and he isn't is one of the dumbest things ever posted here. Check the box score the last two weeks and argue that there is a clear difference between the two. Especially inside the 20 give me Woody everytime.

Our Defense is Solid but Needs to Be Better
Wally has done a very good job but he doesn't walk on water!
If I would rank our defensive units based on their season of work, I would give the following grades:
D.line= C-
IMO McDonough wore done late in the year. We gave up too many rushing yards because of huge holes at the line of scrimmage. Our d-ends are not tough against the run and don't put enough pressure on the QB.
Linebacker = B
If Jake stays healthy, my grade would be higher. We could have been better in pass coverage but this group was the strength of the defense.
DB's = C++
I think this group played well and it s tough to be critical of their effort-I think being undersized hurt our CB's at times.

C (B earlier in the year)
B (A- with Jake)
B- (B+at full health). Height was not really an issue when the same plays are made even if they were 5-11.
