This is only me, but...drinking, college girls, and football or high school buddies. All I am saying is when I was a student and this type of thing came up we always made it. And back then we didnt even have a chance of winning. I guess i just wish there was some promotion. Ya know... wear red get a ticket for $5 or something...

Huh? The upper deck was not empty. The student section of the upper deck was pretty bare when the game started, but it filled in. Maybe you are just talking about the upper deck of the student section.

I would have liked to have seen more, but we had a strong turnout in the student section, all things considered.

All in all, attendance was still pretty damn good when you consider that just a couple years ago, with awful weather like we had today, we were likely going to have about 20k actual butts in seats. Especially with the awful home conference record we've had

Lulz. Lack of attendance during break games is not unique to ISU. Especially for a game the day after thanksgiving. Rhoads has been to enough places to know that.

You missed the tornados in 05 then. Speed we need more speed period guys that are bigger stronger and faster. I believe the tallent pool has increased but we need to continue to build it.

I'm guessing that doesn't always fly when a holiday is involved.

Yes, I'm sure one game of lower than average student attendance and overall attendance is going to have Coach Rhoads polishing his resume for new jobs.

Michigan isnt doing hot this year and they fill it every game in this weather. Same with ohio state even though they cant go bowling. This weather makes it tough to recruit if we cant fill the seats. Maybe we need a dome :)

I agree that Pollard shouldve had a promo like they had for OSU last year where pretty much anyone could get into the student section... and hillsides too for that matter. It seemed like there was very little promotion on this game.

Anyone complaining about the students needs to get real. The rest of the season they far outperformed the rest of the stadium in attendance and volume. Hell, TCU had no students there for freaking fall break. A WVU fan told me that most of their students checked out for last week's OU game. Students missing break games is something unavoidable and not unique to ISU.

Not sure that there would have been better attendance even on Saturday. It's a tough situation for the AD overall...students would probably stay at home/at family gatherings until Sunday regardless

From the cyclones.com, "With its attendance of 53,792 Saturday, Iowa State finished the season with a record-breaking average home attendance of 55,274 in 2012."

Seems the day was mistakenly typed Saturday, should be Friday, but an attendance record is a record nonetheless.

only saying somehow they fill it even on holiday weekends. People were blaming weather... thats all.

students who live more than 3 hours away and are home on break are going to shrink their break by 3 days to watch a football game. There will never be an amazing student section during a major break game
